The admission score for pedagogical training has increased significantly, competing on par with medicine and pharmacy
The National Assembly Standing Committee gave opinions on the draft Law on Higher Education (amended), focusing on adjusting regulations on training programs to effectively promote resources, technical infrastructure and digital, while perfecting talent training policies, providing high-quality human resources to meet the requirements of globalization, digital transformation and the impact of artificial intelligence.

The draft emphasizes the requirement for quality assessment for specific training majors such as pedagogical, health and law, implementing the threshold for ensuring input quality according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training. Inspection is not mandatory for everyone, but it is associated with a level of autonomy and aims to overcome the situation of formal inspection, ensuring accurate reflection of actual quality.
Specific training majors need to strictly control from input to output, even the training process. In particular, pedagogical admission is as attractive as pharmaceutical, while many law and pharmaceutical training institutions currently lack lecturers, curriculum and quality are not guaranteed, so it is necessary to rearrange and revoke licenses if they do not meet standards. Implementing 2 sessions/day teaching: Parents hope their children will be guided to learn career guidance and life skills
From the 2025-2026 school year, the Ministry of Education and Training issued unified instructions on teaching 2 sessions/day for all three levels of education for the first time. The maximum primary school level is 7 periods/day (35 minutes/term), the first session is the main course, the second session strengthens knowledge, trains skills, and experiences. Secondary and high school levels will implement when they are qualified, with a maximum of 11 sessions per week, 2 sessions of tutoring, coaching, and exam preparation. The Ministry does not strictly regulate the morning/ Afternoon, does not interspers the mandatory and optional content in the same session, and at the same time requires the second session to be free, funded by local budgets.
Many localities such as Nghe An, Lang Son, Son La are facing difficulties in lack of teachers, facilities, kitchens, and boarding areas. Some schools must flexibly arrange and mobilize surplus facilities, organize free clubs for arts, sports, and English. Meanwhile, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and some other localities are familiar with this model, the rate of schools organizing 2 sessions/day at primary and secondary schools is very high, contributing to improving the quality of education, creating a diverse and safe learning environment.
Parents and teachers expect the second session to be practical, not turning it into additional fee-based teaching, with content aimed at developing life skills, career orientation, and talents. See more...
