This morning, Hanoi students completed the Math exam - the last exam in the 10th grade public high school entrance exam for the 2026 - 2027 school year.
Ms. Pham Thu Trang - Head of Mathematics Department - Galileo High School (Hanoi) said that the exam consists of 5 papers with full knowledge threads, similar to the structure of the entrance exam to 10th grade in Hanoi in 2025, creating conditions for students to be confident in the exam process.
The content of knowledge closely follows the 2018 General Education Program, requiring students to apply the knowledge they have learned to solve the requirements of the problem.

Assessing the new points of this year's exam, Ms. Thu Trang said that real-world problems with a close context appeared. These problems are not difficult in terms of knowledge but require students to apply the knowledge they have learned, have analytical skills, reading comprehension ability and mathematical modeling ability to achieve complete scores.
Compared to the 2025 exam, the 2026 exam has better differentiation, requiring more practical thinking and application skills in student differentiation questions" - Ms. Thu Trang assessed.
Regarding differentiation, Ms. Trang said that the exam ensures the classification of students, questions with levels of consciousness: Recognition, understanding, application.
Some questions are high in difficulty to classify good and excellent students, such as the auxiliary question of simplifying expressions (idea 2c), the question of circular geometry (question 4) and the question of applying inequalities (question 5)" - Ms. Trang said.
From the above analysis, this teacher predicts that students with average - quite good academic ability, who have had thorough review and test preparation, calculation and careful presentation, can achieve a score of 6.5 - 7.5 points. Students with quite good - excellent academic ability, handling math problems that require logic and good thinking foundation can achieve 8 points or more.
Sharing the same opinion, teacher Do Van Bao - Math teacher at PTLC Vinschool and Tuyensinh247 education system - said that this year's exam questions maintained a stable structure with 5 familiar problems, including knowledge groups on statistics and probability, algebraic expressions, solving math problems by formulating equations combined with Viète theorem, geometry and optimized practical problems.
According to teacher Bao, the highlight of the exam is the practical situations that appear throughout many questions, from statistics of student height, probability of drawing balls, producing shirts according to plan, buying flowers, calculating water tank volume to the problem of optimizing production costs. The problems not only require reading comprehension of data but also require students to build mathematical models and choose appropriate tools to solve problems.
Regarding the level of the exam, teacher Bao assessed that the exam has differentiation but is not tricky. The proportion of identification and understanding questions accounts for the majority, helping students firmly grasp basic knowledge and can complete about 75-80% of the exam. Meanwhile, application and high application questions are mainly focused on geometry and practical optimization problems, capable of classifying good and excellent students.
Notably, the geometry question continues to be the part with the highest differentiation of the exam. Some proof requirements in the flat geometry problem require students to connect many intermediate results and deeply exploit existing data. In addition, the practical optimization problem in the last question requires students to establish a connection between quantities, build cost expressions and then return to the problem of finding the smallest value, thereby assessing the capacity of mathematical modeling instead of complex extreme-value techniques.
Compared to last year's exam, this year's exam may be slightly better in the geometry part but lighter in the algebra, so the overall difficulty is equivalent or lower. The expected score distribution will mainly focus on about 7-8 points, while the number of exam papers achieving absolute scores is not large due to the thinking requirements in the geometry part and the problem of optimizing reality" - teacher Bao assessed.
