Closely follow each student to promptly support
In the days leading up to the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026, the work of maintaining student enrollment in highland schools faces many difficulties. The main reason is that some students follow their families to work far away, others stay at home to help with production and Tet preparation, directly affecting study activities.
At Lam Hoa Ethnic Minority Boarding Primary and Secondary School, Tuyen Lam commune, maintaining the number of students is identified as a key task in the last months of the year. The school develops a specific plan, clearly assigning responsibilities to each teacher, especially homeroom teachers, in order to closely monitor the learning and living situation and circumstances of each student.
Teachers regularly grasp the changes in class size, promptly report cases of students dropping out of school without reason to have early handling measures. For students at risk of dropping out of school, the school proactively exchanges with parents, finds out the causes and proposes appropriate support solutions.

According to Mr. Nguyen Huu Tam - Lam Hoa Ethnic Minority Boarding Primary and Secondary School, the whole school currently has 304 students, of which more than 60% are ethnic minority students. At the time of Tet, many students have to help their families with production labor, even working part-time to increase income.
Up to now, more than 20 students have dropped out of school. If not promptly grasped and mobilized, the risk of students dropping out of school for a long time after Tet is very high. Therefore, the school is making efforts to implement many solutions, from population management, school propaganda to direct mobilization at home to keep students in class" - teacher Tam said.
Coordinate with localities to raise awareness about learning
Determining that maintaining enrollment is a key factor in improving the quality of education, the school promotes propaganda and mobilizing students to study diligently. In addition to flag-raised activities and class activities, teachers also go directly to each village, hamlet, and household to exchange with parents and mobilize to create conditions for children to go to school fully.
Recently, the school coordinated with Tuyen Lam Commune Police to implement the model "Steady Steps to School - Together with Border Area Students". Accordingly, on Monday mornings every week, the Commune Police force and Party cell secretaries and village heads directly go to each village and hamlet to remind and mobilize students to come to school on time.
For students in particularly difficult circumstances, living far from school, without means of transportation, commune police officers and soldiers will transport students by motorbike to be on time for class.

According to Mr. Dinh Xuan Thuong - Chairman of Tuyen Lam Commune People's Committee, due to various reasons, at the time of approaching Tet, some students showed signs of skipping school. To create favorable conditions for them, the Party Committee and Commune People's Committee have directed to strengthen coordination between the Commune Police and the school in implementing the model "Steady Steps to School - Together with Border Area Students".
The model focuses on propaganda and mobilization to help students and parents clearly recognize the importance of learning, thereby limiting the situation of prolonged school breaks before and after Tet" - Mr. Thuong said.
In the days leading up to the Lunar New Year, the work of maintaining student enrollment continues to be concerned and implemented by higher education institutions in Quang Tri with many appropriate solutions to promptly support students at risk of dropping out of school, contributing to improving the quality of education in ethnic minority areas.
