On December 30, Hue University of Education (Hue University) said that Macaulay International School of Mathematics is organizing at Hue University of Education. This is the first time this international academic event has been held in Vietnam, taking place until January 9, 2026.
Dr. Le Ho Son - Rector of Hue National University of Education said that Macaulay2 is an algebraic calculation software system developed for more than three decades, currently widely used in the international Mathematical community. The organization of the International School of Oriental Studies not only creates opportunities for scientists, lecturers and students to access and practice this tool system systematically, but also contributes to promoting academic exchange and expanding research cooperation at home and abroad.
Participating in teaching at the event were leading experts in the field of Interpolation Algebra and Algebra Geometry from the US, France, China and Vietnam. Notably, Professor David Eisenbud - former President of the American Mathematical Society, Director of the Berkeley Institute for Mathematical Sciences (MSRI), and also one of the three founders of the Macaulay2 program directly lectured and guided students.
In addition, the program also has the teaching participation of GS.TSKH Ngo Viet Trung and GS.TSKH Le Tuan Hoa, leading scientists in Vietnamese Mathematics.

The event attracted 55 students from many countries such as the US, France, Italy, Russia, Colombia, China, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, India, Pakistan and Vietnam. Students were divided into groups and participated in professional projects under the guidance of the Macaulay2 community.
According to the plan, the first week focuses on a series of lectures on the basic functions of Macaulay2 and applications in Transverse Algebra, Algebra Geometry and some related fields. The second week is dedicated to in-depth practice activities, developing software packages for research; students work in small groups and present results in stages.
Macaulay2 is now considered an important tool in modern mathematics research, especially when combined with big data analysis and artificial intelligence, contributing to promoting the discovery of new scientific results.
