On the afternoon of September 26, the announcement ceremony of the Asian Mathematical Auction (AIMO) for the 2025-2026 school year took place at Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

The event was organized by Tien Phong Newspaper in collaboration with Hanoi University of Science and Technology and Tien Phong Joint Stock Company. The Asian Mathematical Championship (AIMO) was first held in 2012 by the Asian Mathematical Commission, with the annual participation of about 150,000 students from more than 20 countries and territories.
Vietnam officially participated in AIMO since 2019 and quickly affirmed its position with more than 220 international medals; in 2025 alone, Vietnam will have 1 Championship, 10 Gold Medals, 7 Silver Medals and 4 Bronze Medals, affirming Vietnam's intelligence on the international Math map.
Speaking at the program, Mr. Phung Cong Suong - Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong Newspaper emphasized that the contest is practical, associated with the orientation of developing education and training; promoting science, technology, innovation and digital transformation in the spirit of Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW and Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo.

Organizing AIMO in Vietnam not only aims to create conditions for students to access international assessment standards, but also creates motivation for localities and schools to build a strategy for developing human resources in science and technology, aiming to form a team of talents with strong expertise, good at foreign languages, and capable of leading key areas of the knowledge economy by 2030.
AIMO is not only an academic exam, but also an international experiential and integration journey. The organizational model from the Regional (North - Central - South) to the National and International levels creates a widespread network of connections, spreading the spirit of innovation to each locality.

The contest contributes to promoting educational institutions to invest in facilities and innovate teaching methods, especially enhancing teaching of Math in English according to international standards. At the same time, it aims to have a dual goal of nurturing a love for science and arousing the desire to conquer knowledge for the young generation of Vietnam, equipping students with the core abilities of global citizens.
By experiencing and conquering the Math exam in English, candidates are trained in three important groups of skills: logical thinking, analysis and strict reasoning in Mathematics; Applied thinking, connecting Math knowledge with the fields of science and technology; Academic foreign language skills, helping to quickly access international knowledge and communicate effectively in a multicultural environment.
AIMO for the 2025-2026 school year for students from grades 2 to 12 is implemented according to a four-level inter-level roadmap, ensuring both expanding opportunities for participation and screening outstanding factors.
The Preliminary Round of the competition is conducted online on AIMO Vietnam's technology platform, taking place nationwide from November 2025 to December 2025, divided into 3 rounds. Each candidate can only take one exam. The application of online technology helps AIMO remove geographical barriers, creating equal opportunities for all students across the country to access international standard exams.
Candidates with high scores will be selected to continue to the round of the Area, which will be held in March 2026 in 3 regions of North - Central - South in a knockout format. This is a period that not only tests the ability to compete in Mathematics but also trains the exam room style, paperwork skills and concentration - important factors when competing nationally and internationally. The results of this round will determine the typical representatives to participate in the National Finals.
The National Final Round is expected to take place before April 20, 2026, held in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, with the exam questions sung entirely in English.
