The Hanoi Department of Education and Training has just launched the International Young IT Talent Contest 2025 - 2026, helping students improve digital skills and apply AI in their studies.

The Hanoi Department of Education and Training (DET) officially launched the International Young Talent Competition - Hanoi City for the 2025 - 2026 school year, for students from grades 3 to 12 across the city. The contest was organized in coordination with IIG Vietnam Education Organization - the national representative of Certiport Testing Group (USA).

The contest is a science and technology playground, aiming to encourage the movement of learning IT according to international standards, helping students develop digital thinking, expand knowledge and enhance the ability to apply technology in their studies and lives.

According to the Organizing Committee, the 2025 - 2026 school year will be implemented with two competition boards: International IT skills and application of artificial intelligence (AI). Students will experience US international standard exams, including IC3 Spark for Primary School, IC3 for Secondary School, MOS for High School and Gen AI for Middle and High School.

The highlight of this year is that for the first time, Hanoi students will have direct access to the Generative AI Foundations international exam, developed by Certiport. Thereby, middle and high school students can learn basic knowledge about generative AI, practice prompt building and apply AI tools to their studies, and practice skills in using AI safely and responsibly.

The contest is organized in three rounds: The qualifying round at schools from December 2025 to January 2026, the preliminary round scheduled for March 22, 2026 and the final round scheduled for April 5, 2026.

In each round, the Organizing Committee awarded certificates to candidates with high results. The excellent students in the final round will receive a certificate of achievement from the Hanoi Department of Education and Training along with medals and awards from the Organizing Committee. High school students who won first, second and third prizes (international IT skills group) were also directly recruited into the Hanoi Department of Education and Training's team to participate in the National Qualifying Round of the 2026 World Office IT Championship (MOS World Championship 2026).

Do Duc Viet - a student at Mac Dinh Chi Secondary School (Ba Dinh Ward, Hanoi) - said: "I find the competition very meaningful. I learned more knowledge about IT and interacted with many new friends. When winning the award, my child will be recorded in the academic records and given priority when considering admission to a high school".

Dao Song Toan - a student at Vietnam - Cuba Primary School (Ba Dinh Ward, Hanoi) - shared: "Through the contest, my child learned more about computers, safe networking skills and felt very happy to participate".

Previously, in the 2024 - 2025 season, the International Young Talent Competition - Hanoi City recorded the enthusiastic participation of nearly 30,000 students from more than 550 high schools across Hanoi City. As a result, more than 80% of candidates achieved 700/1000 points or more - the required score of the International Informatics Assessment standard IC3 Spark, IC3 and MOS.

Notably, 91 candidates achieved an absolute score of 1000 and 694 candidates achieved 900 points or more. This achievement shows remarkable progress in the IT proficiency of the capital's students as well as the effectiveness of applying international assessment standards to teaching and assessment testing.
