On August 4, news from the Office of Ha Tinh Provincial People's Committee said that Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Nguyet has just signed and issued a decision approving the plan to arrange the network of educational institutions in the province from the 2026-2027 school year.
According to the approved plan, the whole province currently has 601 kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools and inter-level schools with 9,063 classes, serving more than 1.6 million people in 69 communes and wards.
After arrangement, the number of commune-level schools decreased to 248 schools, a decrease of 353 focal points, equivalent to about 58.7%.
In which: Kindergarten block: from 233 schools to 82 schools, a decrease of 151 schools (64.81%); Primary school: from 220 schools to 92 schools, a decrease of 128 schools (58.18%); Secondary, primary and secondary school: from 148 schools to 74 schools, a decrease of 74 schools (50%).
For general education at the high school level, it is arranged from 38 schools to 35 schools.
In which, some schools were merged to form larger-scale schools such as: Merging Phan Dinh Phung High School and Thanh Sen High School, forming a new school with 67 classes with 2,723 students;
Merging Nguyen Van Troi High School and Nguyen Dong Chi High School, scale 57 classes with 2,146 students; Merging Vu Quang High School and Cu Huy Can High School, scale 33 classes with 1,075 students.
In addition, the province transformed two high schools into a multi-level model: Ly Chinh Thang High School merged with Nguyen Khac Vien Secondary School, forming a secondary and high school with a scale of 32 classes, 1,224 students.
Duc Tho High School merged with Dong Lang Secondary School, forming a secondary and high school with a scale of 26 classes, 966 students.
After arrangement, the entire high school block has 1,668 classes with 45,484 students, an increase compared to the current situation of 1,139 classes and 44,342 students.
For the vocational education - continuing education system, arrange from 10 centers to 5 centers.
The arrangement is carried out on the basis of merging small-scale units, close to each other in terms of area, in order to improve the efficiency of management and use of facilities, staff, teachers and better meet the learning needs of the people.
After arrangement, the GDNN-GDTX system still maintains a stable scale of 124 classes with 4,947 students, without interrupting teaching and learning activities; and at the same time creates conditions to focus resources and improve the quality of vocational training and continuing education in the area.
Regarding the staff, the arrangement is associated with innovating school governance, streamlining management focal points, restructuring the staff in the direction of reducing management staff, effectively using facilities and public assets. After the arrangement, the entire sector is expected to arrange 2,395 management staff and employees, a reduction of 611 people compared to the current situation (3,006 people).
In which, management staff decreased from 1,534 to 978 people, a decrease of 556 people, including a decrease of 300 principals and 256 vice principals; staff decreased from 1,472 to 1,417 people, a decrease of 55 people.
According to each level of education, the preschool block reduced 304 management officials and staff; primary school reduced 187 people; secondary school and primary and secondary school reduced 89 people; high school reduced 8 people; vocational education and continuing education reduced 23 people.
The Provincial People's Committee requests communes, wards and units directly under the Department of Education and Training to complete the construction and approval of arrangement projects before August 20, 2026.
The reorganization of educational institutions, consolidation of organizational structure and completion of staff arrangement will be completed before August 20, 2026, ensuring that units operate stably right from the beginning of the 2026-2027 school year.
