Quang Tri plans to reduce 465 commune-level public school branches
Quang Tri province is expected to streamline from 831 public educational institutions under the commune-level People's Committee to 366 institutions, a reduction of 465 schools, equivalent to 55.96%. Of which, preschools are 123 schools, primary schools are 94 schools, secondary schools are 77 schools, primary and secondary schools are 72 schools, a reduction of 48 schools.
The arrangement is carried out based on the assessment of school scale, traffic conditions, terrain, population distribution, socio-economics, facilities, staff and learning needs of students in each locality.
However, based on the actual conditions of the locality, the Department of Home Affairs proposed not to implement arrangement for many public educational institutions with geographically isolated locations; wide management area; difficult and complex traffic and distance between schools and residential areas.
Da Nang sets a target to reduce at least 30% of public educational institutions
In Da Nang, the City People's Committee has issued documents directing departments, branches and localities to simultaneously implement plans to review and restructure the school network.
The city's overarching goal is to reduce at least 30% of public educational institutions compared to July 2025, according to the principle of "Taking learners as the center, ensuring the right to education and access to education, creating more favorable conditions for students to go to school, without creating geographical and cost barriers".
According to the plan, no later than August 5, Da Nang City People's Committee will approve the overall plan for the whole city. Districts, towns, communes, and wards will complete the procedures for merging, establishing, and consolidating the management apparatus before August 25.
Khanh Hoa rearranges 271 public schools, streamlining 37.2% of focal points
Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee has approved the plan to arrange public educational institutions in the province, implemented from the 2026-2027 school year.
According to the approved plan, from the 2026-2027 school year, the whole province will have 457 public educational institutions remaining, a decrease of 271 public educational institutions, equivalent to 37.2%.
For the management team, localities will arrange some redundant management officials to the Department of Culture - Society, Office or Public Service Center under the commune-level People's Committee if there are still staff quotas and they are suitable for their profession. At the same time, encourage management officials to return to teaching or take on the titles of professional team leaders and deputy team leaders to take advantage of high-quality human resources, contributing to overcoming the situation of teacher surplus and shortage.
Cases wishing to quit their jobs will be resolved according to Decree No. 154/2025/ND-CP of the Government and current legal regulations.
For teachers, after arrangement, schools will arrange according to teacher norms/class and in the total number of people assigned to ensure teaching activities in the 2026-2027 school year...
The locations of equipment, libraries, and school health facilities will be rearranged to suit the scale of students and the number of school sites.
For cases where it is not possible to arrange immediately, the locality will implement training, fostering or encouraging self-training to switch to the lacking professional positions.
Phu Tho develops a plan to select principals after arrangement
According to the plan, Phu Tho province will reduce 631 out of a total of 1,852 public educational institutions, equivalent to a reduction of 34.1%. In which, the number of units managed by communes is expected to decrease from 1,693 to 1,110 facilities.
Detailed plans for arranging public schools, including guidelines for selecting principals, will be developed by the Department of Education and Training, expected to be submitted to the Provincial People's Committee from August 3rd to August 7th.
Across the country, the Ministry of Education and Training expects that after the arrangement, over 20,000 management officials (principals, vice-principals) will be transferred and rearranged. Of which, 11,000 people will be arranged as teachers, contributing to overcoming the long-standing shortage; the rest will be arranged for other jobs or retire early, and will retire according to regulations and aspirations.
