HCMC - Entering university, new students are advised to practice self-study skills, critical thinking and master new technology to keep up with the AI era.

Unlike high school, when entering university, new students must get used to a completely new learning environment. Flexible learning schedule, more diverse teaching methods and require a higher level of self-study. Along with that, changes in learning conditions and approaches to knowledge also force students to quickly adapt.

Mr. Pham Thai Son - Director of the Admissions and Communications Center of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade - shared that in the context of strong development of artificial intelligence (AI), the most important thing for new students is to improve their self-study ability.

Tools like ChatGPT, Gemini or many other digital platforms can provide a huge amount of information, but students must know how to select, exploit and do in-depth research to turn knowledge into their own.

Along with that, the skills of critical thinking are also very necessary. AI can provide data and suggest solutions, but human analytical, evaluative and critical thinking skills still play a decisive role. This is the point that helps students to be different and create creative ideas in both studying and working.

Another factor that new students should be interested in is updating their knowledge about new technologies. Learning from basic concepts of AI, machine learning, blockchain or Big Data will help you visualize how technology is changing the world, thereby seizing the opportunity to apply it in the field you are studying.

Along with professional knowledge, soft skills are still the key to development. AI can support work processing, but communication, teamwork, leadership or time management are irreplaceable skills. This is also a foundation to help students adapt to the university environment and be more convenient in their future career.

In the digital age, changes occur continuously, requiring students to form the habit of learning and improving themselves every day. Following technology, science trends or social issues will help you always be ready for fluctuations.

Depending on each major, students should also learn how to apply AI in their field. From medicine, economics, education to art, exploiting the right tools can open up completely new opportunities for career.

In addition to all that, Mr. Son emphasized that new students should not forget to take care of their mental and physical health. "AI can help you learn faster, but a clear mind and healthy body are the foundation for success. Maintain exercise habits, participate in extracurricular activities to balance life and study," he said.

According to Mr. Son, just by being ready, new students can not only seize opportunities from AI but can also develop sustainably and strongly in the digital age.
