The demand for learning English is increasing
English is increasingly being concerned by parents and students in Hung Yen. Many families introduce their children to foreign languages early, while schools also focus on innovating teaching methods, creating an environment for students to use English more regularly.
At the preschool level, allowing children to access English early is done through activities suitable for their age such as games, songs, stories and simple communication.
Ms. Vu Thi Thuy - English teacher at Bill Gates Kindergarten, (Tran Lam ward, Hung Yen province) said that through the teaching process, she realized that getting children to get acquainted with English early is extremely important.
According to Ms. Thuy, this helps children absorb new languages naturally, while forming thinking and reflexes with language similar to the process of children learning their mother tongue.
For preschool children, the ability to concentrate is not high, so study time needs to be allocated reasonably. Teachers can combine teaching with organizing games, incorporating songs and stories to create excitement. Through this, children not only remember words faster but also gradually say long sentences, forming natural language reflexes.
Ms. Thuy believes that currently many parents are interested in their children learning English. Letting children get acquainted with foreign languages early will create a favorable foundation for the process of absorbing, forming language thinking and English reflexes.

According to her, the goal of making English the second language in schools is feasible if it ensures a suitable curriculum, learning content, teaching staff and facilities.
Ms. Nguyen Phuong Linh (Pho Hien ward) said that her family is quite interested in letting their children learn English early. According to her, children being exposed to foreign languages from a young age will have more time to get acquainted with pronunciation, vocabulary and communication, and at the same time form confidence when using English.
Ms. Linh believes that the school's focus on teaching English, combined with the companionship of the family, will help children have a more effective learning and practicing foreign language environment.
Forming an environment for using English
Recently, the Hung Yen Department of Education and Training reported on the draft Plan to implement the Project to make English the second language in schools in the period 2025-2035.
According to the draft, the goal is to gradually form an English-using ecosystem in educational institutions, creating an environment for managers, teachers, students, and pupils to use English regularly in teaching, learning, and communication.
In the period 2025-2030, the province strives for 80% of preschool education institutions to ensure conditions for children to get acquainted with English at level 1; 100% of primary education institutions to deploy compulsory English teaching from grade 1 and 10% of general education institutions to reach level 1.

Along with English, Hung Yen aims to strengthen teaching and learning some foreign languages such as Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and German to meet the needs of learning, communicating, accessing knowledge, science, technology and international integration.
From the 2027-2028 school year, the province plans to pilot for preschool children to get acquainted with Chinese, Japanese and Korean at some qualified facilities. Some other foreign languages are also oriented to be piloted at all levels of education on a voluntary basis and in accordance with actual conditions.
To achieve the goal, the draft sets out tasks on developing the teaching staff, innovating teaching methods and testing and assessment; strengthening the application of technology and artificial intelligence; investing in facilities and learning materials; promoting socialization, international cooperation and building a foreign language environment in schools.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Van Nghiem requested the Department of Education and Training to continue reviewing, updating and completing the content, ensuring feasibility before submitting it to competent authorities for consideration.
The Department of Education and Training is required to closely assess the current situation of the teaching staff, facilities and ensuring conditions to build appropriate goals, roadmaps and solutions, avoiding formal and widespread implementation.
