In September 2026, the Department of Education and Training of Khanh Hoa province will strengthen inspection and supervision of semi-boarding kitchen activities at educational institutions to ensure food safety and meal quality for students.
This move is being implemented in the context that public schools have just undergone a process of arranging and reorganizing the apparatus.

Tighten management of early school meals
At the beginning of the new school year, the inspection team of the Department of Education and Training of Khanh Hoa province, led by Mr. Vu Ngoc Duong - Director of the Department of Education and Training - inspected the semi-boarding kitchen at the main school of Nha Trang Kindergarten and Nha Trang Primary School, Nha Trang ward.
The inspection team focused on the conditions of facilities, processing procedures, food sample storage and compliance with regulations on hygiene and food safety.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Viet Ha - Principal of Nha Trang Kindergarten, after arrangement, the school includes the main school and 12 branches. The whole school uses a common menu, which is publicly available for parents to monitor and supervise.
Nha Trang Kindergarten will establish a School Council to proactively develop a plan to organize a common kitchen for the whole school.
In this plan, there is a plan to select a unit to provide semi-boarding meals for the main school and 12 branches.
According to school leaders, the unified organization not only helps control the quality of meals but also facilitates the management and inspection of food sources, quantities and meal delivery times.
This is also one of the requirements set out in the direction of the Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, when schools must strengthen supervision from quality to food origin, ensuring that meals reach students on time and in sufficient quantity.

Step by step selecting capable units
To create favorable conditions for students and parents in the early stages, the Department of Education and Training of Khanh Hoa province said that semi-boarding activities continue to be maintained at schools that meet the conditions.
However, the process of transforming the management model also arises some difficulties.
A Vice Principal in charge of the primary school branch in the North Nha Trang area said that the school is currently maintaining a self-organized model of providing semi-boarding meals for students.
After arrangement, the management apparatus and management at the school have changed, leading to the organization of semi-boarding activities also having to be adjusted.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuyen - Principal of Bac Nha Trang Primary School - said that after arrangement, the school has not organized semi-boarding meals due to the lack of some legal bases such as seals and tax codes.
Before resuming semi-boarding, the school will hold a parent meeting to agree on the collection level and agree on a suitable organizational form.
Mr. Bui Vien Nhiem - Head of the Culture and Social Department of Bac Nha Trang ward - said that the department has advised the Ward People's Committee on organizing the provision of semi-boarding meals for students.
Accordingly, in the initial stage of arranging educational institutions, schools will temporarily organize semi-boarding activities according to the previous method.
In the coming time, the provision of semi-boarding meals is oriented to be organized uniformly in the direction of public bidding, selecting reputable and capable units.
The goal is to build a method of providing stable meals, ensuring nutritional value, controlling the quality, origin and quantity of food.
