Last weekend, while playing sports, Mr. Tran Manh Tan (Hanoi) had to rush back and go straight to the checkpoint of the working group of the Road Traffic Police Team No. 1 (Traffic Police Department, Hanoi City Police) to work. Accordingly, while Mr. Tan left home to play sports, his son arbitrarily took his motorbike out on the street without a driver's license.
While working with the authorities, Mr. Tan expressed his thanks to the traffic police, which surprised those present at the time. Mr. Tan said that the fact that the authorities promptly discovered his son's violation was a very lucky thing for his family.
However, many parents try to find ways to justify their children's violations, even using inappropriate words with the authorities. For example, on November 11, when the working group of the Traffic Police Team No. 6 was inspecting the parking lot of Ha Thanh Secondary and High School (Bac Tu Liem District, Hanoi), many parents came to the school and entered the parking lot with the intention of "dispersing" the violating vehicles.
“I took my child here this morning and parked him in this parking lot, I have the papers here”; “I definitely drove the car to school, my child is not old enough, how can my family let him go”… these are the words of the parents to the authorities. However, all the previous violations were recorded by the traffic police, leaving the parents with no way to deny it, forcing them to sign the fine report.
According to the Commander of Traffic Police Team No. 6, this is a matter of concern. Parents should be the first to set an example for their children in this matter, but parents themselves try to make excuses when their children violate the law.
On October 30, Traffic Police Team No. 6 went to Ha Thanh Secondary and High School (Bac Tu Liem District) to propagate, remind and have students riding motorbikes to school sign a commitment not to repeat the offense, and the school signed a commitment not to keep students' motorbikes. However, on November 11, when the Traffic Police came to check for the second time, nearly 30 violations had been punished.
Talking to reporters, the school leaders admitted that the school still keeps motorbikes for students, and charges a fee.
"We strive that by the end of this first semester, all students of the school will use the correct means of transport according to regulations" - Ms. Dinh Thi Dung, Vice Principal of Ha Thanh Secondary and High School - said.
The fact that schools have not resolutely refused to take care of students’ motorbikes will create conditions for students to continue violating. This situation is happening in many schools in Hanoi. Traffic police force requested the Hanoi Department of Education and Training and the Education Departments of districts to take action on this issue.
