On July 17, the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province issued a decision on the organizational structure of the Department of Education and Training of Bac Ninh province after the merger (including the administrative boundaries of the two former provinces of Bac Ninh and Bac Giang).
Accordingly, the two specialized high schools of the two provinces will previously retain the traditional names of Bac Ninh Specialized High School and Bac Giang Specialized High School.
Previously, in early July, after the localities merged, the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province issued a decision to rename the two specialized schools mentioned above as Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted No. 1 and Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted No. 2. These are the first two specialized schools in the country to change their names after the merger.
At that time, many students and former students of Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted and Bac Giang High School for the Gifted expressed their disappointment at the school's name change. Many people posted on social networks, expressing their desire to keep the school's name.
Discussing the above issue, Mr. Ta Viet Hung - Director of the Department of Education and Training of Bac Ninh province - said that the two schools will continue to operate under traditional names to protect their brand and identity.
Mr. Ta Viet Hung also explained that this decision was made after carefully considering social psychological factors, parents, teachers and students' opinions.
According to Mr. Hung, changing the school's name, according to many experts and leaders of the Department of Education and Training, needs to be based on traditional history and practical feedback from the community.
Keeping the names of Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted and Bac Giang High School for the Gifted (old) to ensure stable names, not causing disruption, and respecting the educational culture that has been built over many generations.
