On February 24, the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) worked with the Hanoi Department of Education and Training on the implementation of Circular No. 29/TT-BGDDT regulating extra teaching and learning.

No extra classes are organized at schools for 2 sessions/day

At the meeting, Ms. Nguyen Thanh Ha, Principal of Phan Chu Trinh Secondary School, said that previously, review for high school graduation exam students was carried out after the end of the school year, based on the students' voluntary spirit, the revenue and expenditure were implemented according to regulations.

Regarding extra teaching outside of school, there are some teachers, mainly Math, Literature, English, who teach small groups at the request of parents or parents to organize the invitation for tutors, tuition fees agreed upon between parents and teachers.

Since Circular No. 29 was issued and took effect, classes for weak students and excellent students continue to be conducted free of charge according to the school year plan.

"Currently, there are 5 Literature teachers of the school who are completing the application to participate in extra teaching at the knowledge training center" - Ms. Ha informed.

Citing difficulties in implementing Circular 29, managers, teachers and parents of Phan Chu Trinh Secondary School and Pham Hong Thai High School mentioned funding to support teachers in providing training and review for students; difficulties in inspecting and supervising extra teaching and learning outside of school; difficulties in changing students' self-study habits; difficulties in managing students' time at home...

From there, schools propose to receive financial support for training and knowledge supplementation for 3 groups of students according to the provisions of Circular 29, have solutions to effectively take advantage of school facilities, have appropriate treatment policies for teachers, and ensure that teachers can confidently contribute to their profession.

Regarding this issue, Mr. Tran The Cuong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, said that there is currently a roadmap to support funding for schools.

At the working session, to resolutely and effectively direct the early end of the widespread situation of extra teaching and learning, Deputy Minister Pham Ngoc Thuong requested that management levels and the commune thoroughly grasp the 5-no" viewpoint and implement well the "4 high-level" one.
