Lao Cai spends more than 48 billion VND to exempt tuition fees due to natural disasters

Lao Cai - The province will allocate 48.5 billion VND from the budget to exempt tuition fees for the 2024-2025 school year for preschool and primary school students in the area.

On November 9, the 23rd Session to resolve arising work of the 16th term Lao Cai Provincial People's Council for the 2021-2026 term passed a Resolution on not collecting tuition fees for the 2024-2025 school year for preschool children, public primary school students, and students studying at continuing education institutions under the general education program in the area.

Accordingly, in the 2024-2025 school year, Lao Cai will not collect tuition fees for children, students, and trainees at the above levels who must pay tuition fees according to regulations for public preschool and general education institutions. The funding for implementation support from the provincial budget is expected to be 48.5 billion VND.

According to Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Lao Cai Province Vu Xuan Cuong, storm No. 3 and its circulation have caused serious damage to people and property in the area, many households have lost people, lost their homes, lost property, life is very difficult.

The issuance of the Resolution stipulating no tuition fees for the 2024-2025 school year is very necessary and timely, contributing to reducing difficulties for parents and students in disaster-affected areas.

Storm No. 3 and its circulation in Lao Cai left 239 people dead, missing, and injured; more than 11,200 houses were flooded, landslides, swept away by floods, and damaged ancillary structures; estimated economic damage to Lao Cai was about 6,900 billion VND.
