The information was announced by Mr. Nguyen Quoc Chinh - Director of the Center for Testing and Quality Assurance, Ho Chi Minh City National University on the morning of December 26 at the 2024 Annual Conference.
Mr. Chinh said that in 2025, the Ho Chi Minh City National University's capacity assessment exam will have 2 rounds.
In the first round, candidates will have 1 month to register for the exam (from January 20, 2025 to February 20, 2025).
The exam is expected to be held in 25 provinces/cities, including: Thua Thien Hue, Binh Phuoc, Tay Ninh, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Binh Thuan, Dak Lak, Lam Dong, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Dong Thap, Vinh Long, An Giang, Can Tho, Kien Giang, Bac Lieu and Ca Mau.
Exam registration form will be announced to candidates on March 22, 2025.
Exam will be held on March 30. Results will be announced on April 16, 2025.
Phase 2, candidates register for the exam from April 17, 2025 to May 7, 2025.
The exam is expected to take place in 11 provinces/cities, including: Thua Thien Hue, Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa, Dak Lak, Lam Dong, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Tien Giang and An Giang.

Mr. Chinh added that the 2025 competency assessment exam of Ho Chi Minh City National University will be adjusted to suit the trend of choosing diverse subjects of candidates in the 2018 general education program; ensuring fairness and creating opportunities to access higher education for all candidates.
The exam still consists of 120 questions. In which, the Logic - Data Analysis and Problem Solving section is restructured into the Scientific Thinking section, with 30 multiple choice questions. The questions are structured in the direction of providing information, data, facts, experimental planning, experimental results, thereby requiring candidates to demonstrate their ability to understand and apply information, determine experimental results, and predict laws.
The Language Use (Vietnamese and English) and Mathematics sections have increased the number of questions to 60 and 30 questions, respectively.
Candidates have a total time of 150 minutes to complete the test. The maximum score of the test is 1,200 points, each question has a different weighting depending on the difficulty, in which the Language Use section is 600 points; Mathematics is 300 points and Scientific Thinking is 300 points.
In 2024, the results of the Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment exam will be used by more than 100 universities and colleges to partially recruit students.
