According to the Quang Ninh Department of Education and Training, the 10th grade high school entrance exam for the 2026-2027 school year in Quang Ninh will take place from June 23 to 25, 2026, 22 days later than in 2025.
In which, on the 22nd, 6 candidates complete exam procedures; on the 23rd and 24th, 6 are for students taking exams at non-specialized schools; on the 23rd and 25th, June is for students registering to take the specialized school exam.
It is expected that the whole province will have about 17,000 candidates registered to take the 10th grade entrance exam, an increase of about 1,800 students compared to the previous year. Ha Long Specialized High School alone is expected to have about 1,100 candidates registered to take specialized classes, equivalent to the previous school year.
The whole province is expected to have 31/35 high schools organize entrance exams with 32 exam councils, about 735 exam rooms and mobilize about 2,500 officials, teachers, staff and coordinated forces to participate in serving the exam, of which the exam supervision force is about 2,200 people.
According to the Department of Education and Training of Quang Ninh province, the enrollment plan for 10th grade high school in the 2026-2027 school year has many notable points, in which the total enrollment quota increased by 30 classes with 1,351 students compared to the previous school year.
According to the enrollment plan, for private high schools, students only need to complete the secondary school program according to regulations, regardless of residential area.
For public high schools, in addition to completing the secondary school program, students must have permanent residence in the province or study secondary school at educational institutions in Quang Ninh province.
Regarding the enrollment method, private high schools implement admission based on academic and training results in secondary school transcripts.
Public high schools organize entrance exams with 3 subjects including Literature, Mathematics and Foreign Language. Ha Long Specialized High School takes an additional specialized subject according to the registered class. In case the number of registered candidates is lower than the quota, the school will switch to admission consideration.
In the 2026-2027 school year, the whole province is expected to enroll 19,615 students in grade 10, a sharp increase compared to the previous school year. In which, the public sector enrolls 12,380 students with 280 classes, accounting for about 50.3% of the enrollment rate; the private sector enrolls 7,235 students with 167 classes, accounting for 29.4%.
According to statistics, in the 2025-2026 school year, the whole province has 24,611 9th grade students, an increase of 2,713 students compared to the previous school year. The increase in enrollment quotas is assessed to meet the increasing learning needs of students in the area.
Some important milestones of the entrance exam include: registration for the exam from May 1-20, 2026; announcement of the list of direct admissions on May 30; exam marking from June 26 to July 4; announcement of exam scores and expected benchmark scores no later than July 10; announcement of re-examination scores and benchmark scores no later than July 17; announcement of enrollment results on July 25, 2026.
According to the plan from the beginning of the school year, the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2026–2027 school year in Quang Ninh is expected to take place from July 03–05, 2026. However, there is a change in the time so as not to affect the high school exam, the Quang Ninh Department of Education and Training requests schools to get opinions from 9th grade students and parents about the time when the 10th grade entrance exam can be organized.
There are two expected timelines for students and parents to choose: from May 27-29, 2026 and from June 23-25, 2026.
