Secrets to preparing for the 10th grade entrance exam: Do not study scattered

On March 27, Tran Duy Hung Secondary School (Hanoi) organized the program "Conquering High School - Burning to Shine", to add motivation to 9th grade students before the important grade transfer exam.

Define clear goals and develop effective learning plans

Sharing at the program, Nguyen Son Hai, a student of Chu Van An Specialized High School, a former student of the school, said that last year he also went through a period of a lot of pressure, stress and many times doubting himself. According to Hai, this is a normal psychology when facing the 10th grade entrance exam - an important exam and students only have one chance.

From personal experience, Hai believes that clearly defining goals plays an important role. Students need to understand the environment they are aiming for to avoid feeling vague, thereby having more motivation to study. Choosing a suitable high school is also an important stepping stone for the future, and when there is a goal, it needs to be transformed into specific actions.

The male student also emphasized the management of time and learning habits. Accordingly, Hai advised students to limit the use of social networks and electronic games because they only bring short-term value, instead, they need to invest in long-term goals.

It would be more effective if each student knew how to allocate time reasonably to review each subject" - Hai shared.

From a professional perspective, Ms. Chu Thanh Hang, a Literature teacher at Tran Duy Hung Secondary School, believes that to do well in the exam questions according to the 2018 General Education Program, students need to "learn correctly" and "review thoroughly". "Learn correctly" means mastering basic knowledge, from knowledge to Vietnamese practice, writing skills and essays; while "review thoroughly" means completing all types of questions and requirements of the exam. In the final stage, practicing according to each type of question is necessary.

To do the test effectively, Ms. Hang advises students to correctly identify keywords in the questions, ensuring to fully meet the requirements to achieve the desired results. When entering the official exam, students need to do the test surely, allocate 120 minutes reasonably for reading comprehension and writing, and apply knowledge to complete the exam.

Choosing the right aspirations

Speaking at the program, Dr. Le Kim Anh - Principal of the school - emphasized that students need to have a smart review strategy, not study scattered but focus on the focus, and practice exam questions intentionally. In the process of reviewing, recording mistakes to draw experience is very important.

In addition, students should actively participate in mock exams organized by schools and other units or self-practice exam questions, thereby training bravery, exam psychology and concentration ability.

The school principal also reminded students to manage time reasonably, balance between studying and resting, pay attention to physical and mental health, and maintain stable psychology. Students should not stay up too late after 12 o'clock, need to study disciplinedly and ensure adequate nutrition with groups of substances such as green vegetables, animal protein, plant protein and vitamins.

Regarding the choice of high school, Dr. Le Kim Anh recommends that students should refer to the benchmark scores of recent years, compare them with their own mock exam results, and listen to advice from homeroom teachers and subject teachers to make appropriate decisions.
