The way of a "committed" unit
In mid-May 2025, we had the opportunity to visit Tuong Lai Primary, Secondary and High School (Cao Lanh City) - a school introduced by the Department of Education and Training of Dong Thap as a leading unit in inviting experts to participate in teaching talented subjects to students in the province. Welcoming us is Ms. Tran Kim Phuong Thao - Vice Chairman of the Pedagogical Council, Tuong Lai Education System.
Ms. Thao informed that with the goal of educating and training students according to the motto "Teaching as people - Learning as people", in addition to complying with the output criteria of the Ministry of Education and Training, members of the Pedagogical Council and the Board of Directors have set out many breakthrough approaches.
Accordingly, the school has built a "target tower" with the lowest floor being knowledge and skills. With this level, students will be able to study subjects in fields regulated by the Ministry of Education and Training. At the higher level, there are qualities and abilities, the ability to be demonstrated in practice. Students are evaluated based on the practical knowledge they have learned, applied and promoted.

To implement the model, in addition to the key team of teachers, the school also invited additional education and professional experts, such as: journalists, lawyers, actors, directors, painters... to participate in developing program content for each subject. At the same time, they monitor, guide, as well as use professional vision to discover hidden talents. With this approach, students are not only able to learn knowledge, but also inspired, awakened and instructed to promote their talents.
According to Ms. Thao, these members will participate in the Pedagogical Council to build programs; participate in teaching; support teachers to update practical knowledge to build lesson plans for students.

"Students of the school have been exposed to many people working in different fields since childhood, so they are very confident in step out into life and communicate. That is what the school is still doing until now. This model is applied synchronously in the entire school system, right from kindergarten, children have been able to access and experience..." - Ms. Thao said.
Parents trust
Having two children studying at Tuong Lai Primary, Secondary and High School, Master Nguyen Van Nghiem (Working at Dong Thap University) assessed that the school has an educational philosophy and training model to help students become comprehensive, especially stimulating talents, from nurturing and developing.
"I have found it very effective in inviting experts to teach. My children are developing sports such as swimming, badminton, and chess. She also made great progress in music. I especially appreciate the fact that experts have inspired children who are passionate about reading so that they have the motivation to learn about knowledge" - Mr. Nghiem said.

According to Ms. Thao, to achieve this result in the context of being the leading unit, the school has faced many difficulties. Many times the school has had to argue quite resolutely with parents to convince many parents to understand and gradually part ways with the habit of attaching importance to studying outcomes, no longer having the mentality of comparing with others - which is the reason why students are under unnecessary pressure.
"There is a positive signal that parents have gradually understood, especially parents who have been sending their children for a long time, seeing the maturity of their children" - Ms. Thao added.
According to Ms. Thao, the recent Directive of General Secretary To Lam on inviting experts on talent teaching for students shows a positive signal in perfecting the Vietnamese education system. Above all, this will help parents feel secure and Tuong Lai Primary, Secondary and High School will be confident in their educational direction.
"If this is put into practice soon, it will help students enjoy the most optimal educational environment, so that they are confident in their lives and our "commitment" is despite many difficulties but still worthy" - Ms. Thao added.
