International English certificates, especially IELTS, are being accepted by many universities in Ho Chi Minh City to convert into English exam scores or add points in admission consideration.
In the 2026 university enrollment season, this trend continues to be maintained in many schools.
Ho Chi Minh City Open University said that foreign language certificates including English, Japanese, Chinese, and Korean are allowed to be converted to English test scores when considering admission.
Accordingly, the IELTS certificate from 5.0 is converted to 7 points in English; 5.5 is converted to 8 points; 6.0 is converted to 9 points and from 6.5 or higher is converted to 10 points.

The University of Finance - Marketing announced that candidates who own a foreign language certificate will be added from 0.5 to 1 point in admission, depending on the type and level of the certificate.
