National Economics University this year maintains 3 admission methods, in which admission consideration combined plays a leading role. With this method, candidates can use international English certificates, including IELTS from 5.5 or higher combined with competency assessment scores (HSA, APT, TSA).
In addition, candidates with IELTS can also consider combining with the high school graduation exam score in mathematics and another subject according to the school's regulations.
The school also announced the international certificate conversion table, in which IELTS 5.5 is equivalent to 8 points; 6.0 is equivalent to 8.5 points; 6.5 is equivalent to 9 points; 7.0 is equivalent to 9.5 points and from 7.5 to 9.0 is equivalent to 10 points.
The admission score is calculated on a scale of 30 and rounded to two decimal places.

Hanoi University of Science and Technology in 2026 allows candidates with foreign language certificates to convert to foreign language subject scores when considering admission using high school graduation exam scores or to receive bonus points when considering admission using thinking assessment exam results according to regulations.
Specifically, candidates with IELTS 5.0 will be converted to 8.5 points; 5.5 will be converted to 9 points; 6.0 will be converted to 9.5 points and from IELTS 6.5 or higher will be converted to 10 points.
This conversion table is relative to many other international foreign language and academic certificates such as TOEFL iBT, TOEIC (hearing, speaking, reading, writing), Cambridge English, VSTEP, Aptis... to ensure equivalence in foreign language proficiency between groups of candidates.
The Academy of Journalism and Propaganda is expected to abolish simple transcript review from 2026, instead expanding admission consideration combined with international certificates.
Specifically, in the combined admission method, candidates use the average 6-period transcript score of 2 subjects in the combination combined with IELTS or SAT certificates. The condition is IELTS minimum 6.5 or SAT from 1,200/1,600. The certificate score is converted to a scale of 10, multiplied by a coefficient of 2, the total admission score is calculated according to a scale of 40.
The Academy plans to allow candidates to convert IELTS scores to replace English in the method of considering high school graduation exam scores or convert to combined admission. The school converts IELTS from 5.0 or higher, in which achieving 5.0 IELTS is counted as 7 points. From 7.0 IELTS or higher, candidates will be counted as 10 points.
The University of Law, Vietnam National University, Hanoi also allows candidates to use converted international English certificates according to the regulations of Vietnam National University, Hanoi instead of English combined with scores of the remaining 2 subjects in the combination for admission consideration.
At the Banking Academy, IELTS is not directly converted into the English exam score but is counted as one of the criteria for adding bonus points, with a maximum bonus in the priority group of 3 points. The final admission score (after adding bonus points and priority points) does not exceed 30 points.
University of Transport belongs to the group that abolishes converting IELTS to a 10-point scale. Instead, the school only adds priority points to candidates with IELTS 5.0 or higher. The specific bonus points have not been announced.
Meanwhile, Hanoi University of Science and Technology considers IELTS as a mandatory admission condition for many majors.

Candidates registering for compulsory dual-degree programs must have IELTS from 6.0 or TOEFL iBT from 60 or higher, only admitted according to the competency assessment exam method organized by the school. For the Pharmacy major, all admission methods require candidates to have IELTS at least 5.0 or TOEFL iBT from 35 points.
For the one-degree training program, candidates with IELTS 5.0 or higher are exempt from English differentiation tests after being admitted and eligible to study the 3-year standard program.
For the conversion policy, the school only calculates a score of 10 for candidates with IELTS from 8.0 or higher. The 6.5 IELTS level is equivalent to 8.5 points. However, for candidates using an English certificate to be exempted from the exam in the general knowledge test, IELTS 6.5 is calculated at a maximum of 30 points.
