On July 6, Dr. Nguyen Van Khoa - Director of Nghe An Department of Education and Training - said that the provincial education sector is implementing the development of a project to arrange public education schools according to the direction of the Ministry of Education and Training.
The arrangement is carried out in the spirit of objectivity, science, and suitability to the actual conditions of each area; and at the same time ensures creating favorable conditions for students' learning in the province, not allowing the process of reorganizing the school network to affect the rights of learners" - Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa affirmed.
According to the Director of Nghe An Department of Education and Training, under the direction of the Ministry of Education and Training to arrange schools according to the new model, Nghe An Department of Education and Training will develop a new project and submit it to competent authorities for approval.
According to information from the Ministry of Education and Training, 15 localities selected to pilot the arrangement of public preschool, general and continuing education facilities in 2026 include: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Hue, Cao Bang, Lang Son, Tuyen Quang, Vinh Long, Bac Ninh, Hung Yen, Ninh Binh, Nghe An, Dak Lak, Lam Dong and Dong Nai.
The selection of pilot localities aims to ensure regional representation, socio-economic conditions, population characteristics, urban areas, rural areas, mountainous areas and areas with difficult travel conditions.
In these localities, the education sector will pilot a large-scale school model, including a one-level school model with branches, school sites and a multi-level general education school model. The goal is to streamline management focal points, restructure staff in the direction of reducing education management staff, increasing direct teaching staff, and at the same time maintaining the stability of students' learning at suitable school sites.
Previously, in June 2026, the Standing Committee of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee unanimously approved the project to arrange and reorganize public preschool and general education institutions according to the 2-level local government model, phase 2026-2030.
According to the project, Nghe An province currently has 1,412 public preschool and general education institutions. By 2030, the locality is expected to reduce 153 schools to 1,268 schools.
Along with reducing school branches, Nghe An will also rearrange the system of satellite school points. Currently, the whole province has 883 satellite school points; after rearrangement, it is expected to reduce 310 points, to 573 points.
In addition to the content of arranging schools and classes, the Standing Committee of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee also agreed on a plan to establish the Nghe An Children's Protection Center based on receiving SOS Children's Village Vinh. The Center is a public non-business unit in the field of social assistance, under the Nghe An Department of Health, receiving children and teenagers who are being cared for and nurtured at SOS Children's Village Vinh in their original condition.
