Ha Tinh - It has been almost a week since the new school year, but many parents in Ha Tinh are still going back and forth to buy textbooks and homework notebooks for their children.

On September 9, according to reporters of Lao Dong Newspaper, at some bookstores in Thanh Sen ward, many parents came to buy textbooks and homework notebooks but still did not have enough of the necessary types for their children.

At Ha Tinh Book Distribution Joint Stock Company (No. 74 Phan Dinh Phung Street), Ms. Vo Thi Thanh Tu (45 years old, residing in Thanh Sen Ward) came to ask to buy textbooks for History and Geography for grade 5 along with some notebooks for grades 2, 5, 7, 9.

Ms. Tu said that her family has 4 children. From July 2026, she actively sought to buy books and notebooks for her children. However, due to the scarcity of some types of books and notebooks, until now, when the new school year has started for nearly a week, she has not bought enough.

Today I have been to many places but still haven't bought enough books and notebooks for my children because bookstores also don't have them for sale. I am really worried and upset because I have entered the new school year but haven't bought enough books and notebooks for my children" - Ms. Tu shared.

Not only Ms. Tu, many other parents also came to ask to buy some textbooks and homework notebooks, but bookstore staff informed them that they were not available yet. Some books are still scarce and have not been supplemented.

At Ha Tinh School Equipment and Book Joint Stock Company (No. 58 Phan Dinh Phung Street), many parents also come to ask to buy textbooks and homework notebooks for their children.

Ms. Dang Thi Hong (48 years old, residing in Thanh Sen ward) said that she had gone to many places to buy books and notebooks for her child many days ago, but so far has not been able to buy 9th grade History and Geography textbooks for her child.

If I don't have books here, I have to find another place to see what happens. If I still don't have books, I have to borrow them, photocopy them for my children to study, and photocopying costs much more than buying books" - Ms. Hong shared.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Nhung - a bookstore employee of Ha Tinh School Equipment and Books Joint Stock Company, on September 8, many parents and students came to buy textbooks and homework notebooks. However, some textbooks and many types of homework notebooks are still not available for sale due to scarcity, and goods have not arrived to supplement.

Ms. Nhung added that there is still a shortage of textbooks and homework notebooks. Among them, the most lacking are History and Geography textbooks at all 3 levels of primary, secondary and high school. Homework notebooks for students from grades 1 to 9 are also lacking.

Talking to a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Ms. Tran Thi Thu Ha - Director of Ha Tinh School Equipment and Book Joint Stock Company - said that the company is locally lacking some textbooks and notebooks.

According to Ms. Ha, the company has ordered 68,000 textbooks from grades 8 to 12 to supplement and meet the needs of parents and students. According to the plan, these books will arrive before the opening of the new school year 2026 - 2027. However, in reality, goods have arrived late.

“We contacted and urged, and the supplier replied that the goods would be available on September 15th. Goods arrive so late, I am afraid that it will be difficult to sell because currently many parents, after trying to buy textbooks but failing, have proactively borrowed books to photocopy for their children to study,” Ms. Ha shared.
