On May 25, Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son signed Decision No. 1333/QD-BGDDT on the appointment of the Director of Can Tho University.
According to the Decision, appointing Assoc.Prof. Dr. Tran Trung Tinh to hold the position of Director of Can Tho University.The term of office is 5 years.
The decision takes effect from the date of signing and promulgation.It is known that Assoc.Prof. Dr. Tran Trung Tinh graduated from university at Can Tho University (formerly Can Tho University) in 1997, then participated in a training program in the Netherlands.He studied postgraduate and obtained a master's and doctoral degree in 2004, 2007 at Gyeongsang National University (Korea).In 2013, he was recognized as meeting the standard title of Associate Professor.
During his work, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trung Tinh held many important management positions such as Head of Electrical Engineering Department, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Technology (now Bach Khoa School). From July 2012 to November 2023, he held the position of Vice Rector of Can Tho University. From December 2023 to May 2026, he was Rector of Can Tho University before being appointed as Director of Can Tho University on May 25, 2026.
Can Tho University is currently a key university and postgraduate training institution in the Mekong Delta. As of 2025, Can Tho University is implementing 127 university-level programs. Among them, there are 2 advanced programs, 15 high-quality programs, with more than 36,000 full-time students and nearly 10,000 students in the forms of working-study and distance learning.
In addition, quality assurance is always emphasized by the school. As of the end of 2025, the school has a total of 84 training programs that meet accreditation standards. Of which, 44 programs meet AUN-QA standards and 40 programs meet the standards of the Ministry of Education and Training. Standard programs reflect clear and sustainable changes in ensuring and improving the quality of training of the unit.
