Ca Mau cooperates with Can Tho University to train high-quality human resources

Ca Mau and Can Tho University will comprehensively cooperate in the 2026-2030 period, focusing on human resource training and promoting local socio-economic development.

Cooperation brings many results

At the signing ceremony held on the afternoon of April 15, on the side of Ca Mau province were Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Bui Tan Bay; Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh Luan; Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province Vo Thi Ngoc Han and leaders of departments and branches.

In the 2022-2025 period, the cooperation program between the two sides achieved many positive results. The two sides have implemented 11 provincial-level scientific tasks with a total budget of more than 14 billion VND and 14 grassroots-level projects.

Many applied models have been effective in agricultural and aquatic production such as super-intensive shrimp farming, snakehead fish farming, and field fish farming; and at the same time organized many training classes and technical transfers for people.

In the field of education, more than 1,000 university graduates; hundreds of students completed master's and doctoral programs. Tens of thousands of officials and employees were also trained in expertise and foreign languages. Can Tho University has trained human resources for Ca Mau with quality and efficiency.

However, Ca Mau province assesses that the scope of cooperation is still not commensurate with the potential, still concentrated in some fields, and does not meet new development requirements.

Strategic, comprehensive linkage

According to the new agreement, in the period 2026-2030, the two sides will prioritize training high-quality human resources; developing science and technology, innovation, digital transformation; promoting strong economic sectors and strengthening international integration.

The two units also agreed to coordinate in training and fostering officials; developing new technologies, high-tech agriculture; promoting research, transfer and commercialization of scientific products.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trung Tinh - Rector of Can Tho University said that the school currently has 127 university training programs, 52 master's programs, 25 doctoral programs with about 46,000 students studying.

Among them, there are 3,858 students who are children of Ca Mau province. The school has more than 1,100 lecturers, the PhD rate reaches 58.4%, with more than 200 professors and associate professors. Notably, there are 86 lecturers from Ca Mau, creating an important resource in connecting cooperation.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Phuong - Secretary of the Party Committee of Can Tho University assessed that Ca Mau has a lot of development potential but also sets high requirements for science - technology and quality human resources.

Vice Chairman of Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh Luan said that the results of cooperation in the past time are the foundation for moving into a new phase. The province hopes that the linkage will go deeper, linking training with practical needs; improving foreign language proficiency for teachers; training in the form of ordering for industries that still lack human resources.

According to provincial leaders, the signing is an important basis for departments, branches, localities and businesses to concretize cooperation programs, contributing to promoting socio-economic development in Ca Mau in the coming time.

Recently, the People's Committee of Ca Mau province strengthened cooperation agreements with universities to train human resources, develop talents, and is determined to bring Ca Mau to develop.
