On December 24, Thai Nguyen University Branch (DHTN) in Lao Cai province held a ceremony to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its founding, marking a decade of building and developing higher education in the border area and the Northwest highlands.
Attending the ceremony were Ms. Vu Thi Hien Hanh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee; representatives of the Embassy of the Lao PDR, the Ministry of Science and Technology; leaders of Thai Nguyen and Dien Bien provinces.


On the side of Thai Nguyen University, there were Dr. Nguyen Van Tao - Secretary of the Vietnam Banking Party Committee; Associate Professor, Dr. Hoang Van Hung - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Director of the Vietnam Banking Party Committee and leaders of member units.
The DHTN branch in Lao Cai was established on the basis of the Party and State's policy on developing higher education in conjunction with regions and areas, through restructuring local colleges.
The regional university branch model was chosen to ensure training quality, effectively utilize resources and suit practical conditions in the Northwest region.


After 10 years of operation, the Branch has gradually affirmed its role as a center for training, scientific research and knowledge transfer to serve local socio-economic development.
To date, the unit has trained nearly 3,500 bachelors, coordinated training for nearly 500 masters; at the same time, deployed 102 scientific research topics at all levels, transferring 5 application models to production and community life.

In addition to domestic training, the Branch is also a study address for Lao PDR students; a research and internship destination for Chinese students and a number of other countries, contributing to promoting educational cooperation in border areas.
Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor, Dr. Hoang Van Hung - Director of Thai Nguyen University said that the DHTN Branch in Lao Cai will continue to be oriented towards modernity and humanity, linking training with practical needs. Thereby actively contributing to building quality human resources for the Northwest region.

Recognizing the contributions of the Branch, Ms. Vu Thi Hien Hanh - Vice Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee affirmed that the province will continue to accompany and create favorable conditions for the DHTN Branch in Lao Cai to develop, effectively contributing to the cause of local education and sustainable development.
