Worried about flooding, parents proactively plan a schedule
The 2025 high school graduation exam in Can Tho takes place during the peak of the rainy season, causing many concerns for parents and candidates about flooding and traffic jams.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Kieu Oanh ( whose child is studying grade 12 at a high school in Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho city) could not hide her impatience: "To get to the exam spot, my child and I have to travel through the August Revolution road. This is not only a road with a lot of traffic but also often flooded during heavy rains".
To proactively respond, Ms. Oanh said that her family has reserved more travel time of 30 minutes, as well as considering unflooded routes to go around if it rains heavily, ensuring her child arrives at the exam site on time.

Sharing the same sentiment, Mr. Nguyen Van Tung (with a child studying in grade 12 at a high school in Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho city) not only closely follows the exam schedule but also pays special attention to weather forecasts.
"Although the forecast shows heavy rain mainly in the late afternoon and evening, I still decided to take my child to the exam site early. Whether there are traffic jams or flooding caused by heavy rain, there is no need to worry about being late, said Mr. Tung.
Living in a small alley on Nguyen Van Cu Street, a road that is often flooded during prolonged heavy rain, Mr. Le Trung Tin (who has a child studying in grade 12 at a high school in Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City) is also worried that this will affect his son's important exam.
"In addition to preparing raincoats and umbrellas, I will take my child at least 30 minutes earlier so that even if there is a traffic jam, he will not worry about being late. In particular, I have saved the hotline number to be able to communicate promptly when an incident occurs. However, I still hope the weather will be good so that my son and other contestants can easily get to the exam scores, Mr. Tin shared.
Prepare response plans
The Department of Education and Training (DET) of Can Tho City said that the unit has prepared response plans for heavy rain, flooded streets, etc. that occurred during the days of the 2025 high school graduation exam.
Accordingly, the department has closely coordinated with relevant departments and branches (Department of Construction, Department of Science and Technology, Department of Health, City Police, City and Local Military Commands) to promptly handle situations arising from heavy rain and flooding, ensure security, safety, traffic flow, and maintain smooth communication.

The test sites have developed storm shelters. In particular, the Youth Union members and Hong Duc Company Limited will support the pick-up and drop-off and help candidates move safely during the competition day. For contestants living far away, the exam locations also organize free lunches and arrange rest near the exam locations.
To respond to all emergency situations, hotlines have been set up at the Department of Education and Training and all exam locations.
Regarding the transportation of exam questions and exams, the Transportation Board has developed a plan and roadmap for assigning exam questions along the most favorable routes, ensuring timely handover. The Department of Education and Training Examination Council also closely coordinated with the city police force to monitor, apply and transport the exam questions by vehicles that were carefully covered and could move well in heavy rain and flooded roads. At the same time, the unit also coordinates with the Department of Construction and the Traffic Police to support traffic flow and regulation when necessary.
