On the morning of August 24, reporters of Lao Dong Newspaper recorded at Ha Tinh Book Distribution Joint Stock Company (No. 74 Phan Dinh Phung Street, Thanh Sen Ward), many parents came to buy textbooks and homework notebooks for their children when the 2026 - 2027 school year was approaching.
Ms. Pham Thi Huong (residing in residential group 12, Thanh Sen ward) after searching at bookshelves for a while, still has not bought enough 8th grade textbooks for her child.
According to Ms. Huong, she has gone to many bookstores, including stores in Ha Tinh market, but has not yet bought enough textbooks and homework notebooks.
Currently, I have not yet bought history and geography textbooks and Math notebooks for my children. I have searched many places but have not found them, so I have to wait, what else can I do," Ms. Huong shared.
Sharing the same feeling, Ms. Le Thi Nhung (39 years old, residing in Thach Hai village, Thach Khe commune) whose child is in 1st grade, said that on the morning of August 24, when 1st, 9th and 12th grade students in Ha Tinh went to school, her husband took her children to school, and she rode a motorbike more than 10 km to Thanh Sen ward to find and buy Math notebooks for 1st grade but still did not have them.
Half a month ago, I contacted my child's teacher to help buy it, but she couldn't buy it either. These days, I have asked many places but still haven't found it. The new school year has arrived, not buying enough books for my child makes me not feel secure," Ms. Nhung said.

Many parents who come to buy textbooks and homework notebooks at Ha Tinh Book Distribution Joint Stock Company also expressed concern that they have not bought enough for their children. Meanwhile, most grades (especially grades 1, 9 and 12, which started school on August 24) will start school on August 28.
An employee of Ha Tinh Book Distribution Joint Stock Company said that many sets of textbooks and notebooks are currently scarce. Among them, the most lacking are history and geography textbooks and notebooks for students from grades 1 to 9. Grade 11 and grade 12 textbooks are also lacking a lot.
According to this staff member, on average, every day, the textbook selling point at No. 74 Phan Dinh Phung street has hundreds of parents coming to buy books and notebooks. However, many people cannot buy enough due to scarce supply.
The other day, a parent in the area bordering Quang Tri province came here to buy books for her child. She said she had traveled 80 km by bus, got motion sickness and was exhausted, but could not buy enough books for her child," the female employee shared.

Ms. Tran Thi Thu Ha - Director of Ha Tinh School Equipment and Book Joint Stock Company, one of the units supplying textbooks and workbooks for the 2026 - 2027 school year in the area, said that the company is experiencing a local shortage of some textbooks and workbooks.
The unit will continue to supplement to meet the needs of students in the new school year.
According to an official of the Ha Tinh Department of Education and Training, up to this point, textbooks have met about 80% of the needs of students in the area.
The Department is continuing to coordinate with relevant units to implement plans, striving to ensure 100% of students have enough textbooks before the opening day.
