Ho Chi Minh City - After the incident of a teacher punishing a student for self-injecting a needle into his hand, the Principal self-criticized in front of the School Council and requested a job transfer.

On May 15, leaders of Ben Cat Ward People's Committee (HCMC) said that the ward will have an official report to send to city leaders and relevant departments and agencies on personnel work at Luong The Vinh Primary School.

Ben Cat Ward People's Committee has decided to dismiss Ms. Nguyen Thi My Hanh from the position of Principal of Luong The Vinh Primary School. Currently, the ward is carrying out personnel work to appoint a new principal of the school.

Talking to reporters, Ms. Nguyen Thi My Hanh said that she had proactively resigned from the position of Principal and requested to transfer to another job.

According to Ms. Hanh, in a short time, the school continuously experienced incidents that worried parents. In January 2026, a case occurred of detecting substandard pork being smuggled into the school. In March 2026, a case occurred of parents complaining that the school let students stand outdoors in the sun after school. In April 2026, a case occurred of teachers punishing students for self-injecting needles into their hands.

By the 3rd incident, I was really in crisis. The incidents that occurred put very high demands on the responsibility of the head of the school. I always put student safety first, striving to gain the trust of parents. Before, I only heard about it in newspapers and radio, but now the above incidents have happened at my school. I am very aware of my responsibility. I have conducted self-criticism before the School Council. When I do not do well, please transfer to another job so that someone else can do better to take on this task" - Ms. Nguyen Thi My Hanh expressed.

Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper reported on the above-mentioned incidents at Luong The Vinh Elementary School. The most notable is the case of 5 students in grade 3 and 6 who violated and were punished by teacher L.T. M by letting students self-inject needles into their hands.

The school has intervened to clarify the incident, the teacher said that she bought a needle to use for her sick child. The next day, the teacher put it on the table and said to the students: "Anyone who violates or is not obedient should take the needle and inject it into their hand, I don't inject it into their hands".

The school's disciplinary council met and determined that Ms. L.T. M had violated the regulations on the code of conduct of teachers. The school's disciplinary council decided to discipline Ms. L.T. M with a warning and assigned her to be in charge of the Equipment Department.
