The Government issued Decree 176/2026/ND-CP stipulating preferential policies for lecturers, students, graduate students, research students, and management staff in the field of nuclear power.
Accordingly, students majoring in nuclear power are exempt from tuition fees, dormitories, and receive living expenses of more than 5 million VND/month. Specifically, learners who commit to working at nuclear power plants after graduation will enjoy preferential policies.
In which, university and college students majoring in nuclear power are exempt from tuition fees, dormitories, and are also allocated monthly living expenses equal to two times the base salary, not exceeding 10 months each year.
Currently, the base salary is 2.34 million VND but will increase to 2.53 million VND from July 1. Thus, students are supported with more than 5 million VND in living expenses each month.
In addition, this group is granted an encouragement scholarship equal to 1.5 - 2.5 times the base salary (3.8 - 6.3 million VND) if classified as good, excellent, or excellent academic performance. Scholarship issuance is carried out in semesters. Two times a school year.
Students are also provided with free specialized nuclear power textbooks, priority is given to short-term internships at home and abroad if they achieve excellent grades in the final year, and are accepted to work at nuclear power plants.
Students of majors related to nuclear power plant operation receive similar support. Encouragement scholarships are lower, equal to 0.75 - 1.25 times the base salary, depending on the level of good, excellent, and excellent.
Currently, in Vietnam, some universities are training majors related to nuclear power and nuclear engineering, including Hanoi University of Science and Technology. In the 2026 enrollment season, the school plans to enroll 40 quotas for the Nuclear Engineering major.
This year, the 3 admission methods of Hanoi University of Science and Technology include: Talent admission (XTTN); Admission based on thinking assessment (ĐGTD) exam scores; Admission based on high school graduation exam scores (THPT).
For the University of Science (Vietnam National University, Hanoi), the school trains in Nuclear Engineering Technology.
According to the school's announcement, the admission methods for 2026 include: direct admission, based on high school graduation exam results, considering HSA competency assessment exam scores, international SAT certificates and combining graduation exam scores with international certificates.
Nuclear Engineering major is also included in the training program of the University of Science (Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City).
This year, the University of Science (Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City) plans to enroll students using 2 methods:
Direct admission according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training and admission of foreign candidates (advanced program, enhanced English); Admission combined with the results of the 2026 high school graduation exam or the results of the competency assessment (CA) exam organized by Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM) in 2026 by major/group of majors with transcript scores for 3 years of grades 10, 11, 12.
All scores will be converted to a 30-point scale before applying the combined admission score calculation formula. For international foreign language certificates, the school only converts to the English exam score.
