Accelerating the completion of high school graduation exam registration
At Tran Hung Dao High School (Ha Dong District, Hanoi), the guidance on graduation exam registration has been implemented for both students and parents from April 12, 2025 and as of the afternoon of April 23, 2025, online exam registration is almost complete.
In Ho Chi Minh City, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh - Principal of Binh Chieu High School (Thu Duc City) said that on April 21, the school instructed 12th grade students to register for the 2025 high school graduation exam at the school's engine room. In 2025, students attending the 2018 general education program will take the graduation exam. They will take 4 subjects, including 2 compulsory subjects (Math, Literature) and 2 elective subjects in the remaining subjects. This year's exam has many new points to suit the requirements of the new program, aiming to the comprehensive assessment of learners' capacity.
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha, Deputy Director of the Department of Quality Management, Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) said: The structure of the high school graduation exam format from 2025 will be implemented to ensure inheritance such as Literature in the form of an essay, the remaining subjects will be in the form of multiple choice multiple-choice tests; keep a part of the multiple-choice multiple-choice test format.
The questions for the multiple-choice test are divided into 3 parts. In which, part 1 includes questions in multiple-choice multiple-choice format, part 2 includes questions in the true/false multiple-choice format, part 3 includes questions in the short answer multiple-choice format. The subjects only have a maximum of 4 pages of A4 paper, thereby reducing the workload, reducing the risk of star- printing, and combining exam documents more conveniently.

Urgent review, high school graduation exam
The curriculum, methods, and exam questions have many new points, requiring teachers in the teaching process to improve their capacity, teach students solid knowledge, both thinking and practical methods, and calculation processes, no more teaching tips, no more difficult problems, no more distance from practice...
On the school side, this is the final stage of preparing for the upcoming important exam. One of the key tasks is to organize a test so that students can get acquainted with the structure and exam questions according to the new program.
Regarding review and testing, according to the Principal of Binh Chieu High School, the school has planned to organize review classes starting from June 2 to June 21. Organizing review classes is completely free, students will register if they have a need to learn.
Around mid-May, the school will issue vouchers for students to register for study. Ms. Thanh added that the school has also planned to organize a test for students 12, however, the time and specific content are waiting for instructions from the Department of Education and Training to see if it will be implemented or not.
At Dao Son Tay High School, Ms. Hoang Thi Hao - Principal - said that the test will be specifically planned after the parent and teacher meeting. "The school is preparing a meeting with teachers and parents to collect opinions before implementing it" - Ms. Hao said.
Mr. Huynh Thanh Phu - Principal of Bui Thi Xuan High School (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City) said that this year, implementing the regulations of Circular 29 of the Ministry of Education and Training on extra teaching and learning, the school will still organize reviews as usual as in previous years for students, however, this activity will not collect money. "The school will let students register voluntarily, based on the registration list, review classes will be organized" - Mr. Phu said.
Previously, Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu - Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City - requested high schools to implement the review plan for the high school graduation exam in accordance with regulations, ensuring that it does not last more than 3 weeks after the end of the school year, and at the same time, publicly and transparently implement the review plan.
After the first 2 days of registration (from 21-22.4) over 800,000 candidates registered to take the high school graduation exam, an increase of nearly 2 times compared to the first 2 days of registration last year.
As of 8:00 a.m. on April 23, 2025, the total number of candidates registered for the exam (officially) was 806,172. 12th grade candidates (2018 General Education Program is 786,202, accounting for 97.52% Free students: 19,970 accounting for 2.48%, of which, free students (2018) are 9,667 (accounting for 1.2%), free students (2006 General Education Program) are 10,303 (accounting for 1.28%).
