Clinging to passion and responsibility
In the small room of the Physics Department of Vo Nguyen Giap High School for the Gifted, between the piles of documents, exam papers and rich formula tables, Mr. Truong Dinh Hung still constantly writes on the board every morning. The story of a teacher who has been involved in the work of training excellent students nationwide for nearly two decades begins with a passion for Physics: his love for Physics since he was still in school.
I have been passionate about this subject since high school, then joined the teams of excellent students at second and high school. The good teachers who love their profession have planted in me the dream of becoming a Physics teacher - he recalled.
After passing the Hue University of Education exam, in 2005, he won the Third Prize in the National Student Physics Olympiad, a memorable milestone in his youth.
In 2006, he graduated and worked at Quang Binh High School for the Gifted (now Vo Nguyen Giap High School for the Gifted). Guided by previous generations of teachers, he was soon assigned to be in charge of the excellent student team.

Mr. Hung believes that the outstanding achievements of the Physics team are the result of many factors: resonance, tradition, environment, learning spirit and dedication of teachers. From those who laid the foundation such as Master Hoang Minh Tuy, Master Mai Son Ha, Ms. Mai Thi Tam, to Mr. Nguyen Phuong Hoang and the current collective, all have one thing in common: love for the profession and passion for research.
Physics is a highly applicable science, associated with practical life, so it always attracts students. They come to the subject not only because of their passion but also because it opens up many career opportunities in the future" - Mr. Hung explained.
In his training work, he always emphasizes the combination of traditional and modern methods. In addition to presentation hours, exam analysis or experimentation, the Physics Group also applies information technology, online teaching, sharing documents through platforms, organizing online discussion groups, students solve problems themselves and argue with each other.
Efforts to maintain form
The results have proven everything. In the 2024-2025 school year, the team headed by the coach won 8 National Physics prizes, including 1 First prize, 2 Second prizes, 3 Third prizes and 2 Encouragement prizes, the most impressive number in many years. The two students were also selected for the regional and international admission teams, achieving 10th and 19th place in 40th place.
Previously, thanks to the support of teachers as well as the team, student Nguyen The Quynh won 2 Asian Silver Medals in Physics and 2 International Gold Medals in Physics in 2016 and 2017.

This job requires perseverance and patience. I often relax myself by running, cycling, and it is also a time to reflect and balance myself" - the teacher laughed gently.
What moved him the most was when he saw his students grow up. Many students are studying and working in the field of science and technology, becoming lecturers, engineers, and researchers at home and abroad.
With his inherent modesty, he rarely mentioned personal awards, despite having won the title of Emulation Fighter many times, and being awarded certificates of merit by the Provincial People's Committee and the Department of Education and Training. For teachers, the greatest honor is to be in class, to see students enthusiastically studying every day.
Principal of Vo Nguyen Giap High School for the Gifted Nguyen Thi Hai Yen commented that Mr. Truong Dinh Hung is a dedicated, creative and responsible teacher. Under the guidance of his teachers, the Physics team has continuously achieved high results, contributing to affirming the position of Vo Nguyen Giap High School for the Gifted. For nearly 20 years in class, for Mr. Hung, each lecture is a new discovery, each generation of students is a meaningful journey.
