Regarding the incident in which some students behaved inappropriately towards veterans while attending the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day, in Ho Chi Minh City, on May 3, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) had official information about the incident.
According to Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, the student himself also sent his sincere apologies to the veterans and the community, and expressed deep regret for his wrongdoings and asked for an opportunity to become more mature after his mistakes.
Dr. Nguyen Quoc Anh - Vice Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology commented that this incident is a serious warning about public behavior awareness, especially in sacred spaces and moments associated with national traditions.
He affirmed that the school will handle it in accordance with current regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, and at the same time apply appropriate educational measures so that students have the opportunity to correct their mistakes, mature, and become more responsible people for the community and the country.
Dr. Nguyen Quoc Anh said that during more than 30 years of formation and development, the school has constantly focused on building a civilized and modern learning environment, especially attaching importance to the foundation of ethics with communication skills, behavior skills, and a sense of civic responsibility in addition to professional knowledge, ensuring to maintain a positive and beautiful image of students and inspiring the community.
Through the incident, we hope that every HUTECH student - and more broadly, every young person today - will look back at their sense of personal responsibility in their behavior and speech in public. In an era where every behavior can be recorded and spread in just a few seconds, behavioral culture, gratitude and respect are not only a thing that should be done, but a must-be done", Dr. Nguyen Quoc Anh shared.
Previously, as Lao Dong reported, after the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, social networks spread many videos with content, accusing some students of being substandard and impolite towards veterans while attending the ceremony.
Through research, it was determined that the video contained students from Van Lang University and Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology.
On May 1, Van Lang University also issued an official announcement regarding the incident.
