Wishing for clear differentiation
In the 2026 high school graduation exam, the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) did not publish sample exam questions, causing many candidates to adjust their learning methods and find ways to adapt to changes.
Le Dinh Duong - a 12th grade student at Nguyen Binh Khiem High School for the Gifted (Da Nang) - said that students have difficulty in determining the difficulty and structure of the exam questions.
The male student hopes that the high school graduation exam questions will have a scientific structure, the scope of knowledge closely follows the curriculum, and at the same time have clear differentiation in high application questions.
A fair and quality exam should limit questions requiring mechanical rote learning and strengthen exam types associated with practical situations, requiring students to know how to analyze, synthesize and apply logical thinking to solve problems" - Duong said.
Nguyen Dinh Quyet - a 12th-grade student at Huong Khe High School (Ha Tinh) - said that he has adjusted his review method in the direction of carefully reviewing each topic in the textbook, combined with redoing exam questions from previous years to grasp the general structure. At the same time, he strengthened practicing application types of questions, focusing on learning in the direction of understanding the nature of the problem and spending more time on the right and wrong question types.
The question format right - wrong is currently the part that makes me feel most difficult in the review process. This question format requires students to grasp the knowledge very firmly. Just a small detail mistake can lead to losing points. Questions also include many propositions in a question, so you must carefully analyze each idea, if you are subjective, it is very easy to make mistakes" - Quyet shared.
Exam questions need to properly assess the ability of candidates
Sharing about this issue, Ms. Le Thi Uyen - a teacher at Nguyen Thien Thuat High School (Hung Yen) - said that the failure to publish sample exam questions for the 2026 high school graduation exam brings positive impacts, and also creates some pressure for teachers and students.
First of all, this helps reduce the psychology of rote learning, teachers and students will not be too dependent on a fixed exam structure to practice form. However, the lack of a template also makes many students feel worried, because they find it difficult to self-assess their abilities in the review process" - Ms. Uyen said.
Placing high expectations on the 2026 high school graduation exam, Ms. Uyen believes that the exam questions need to aim to correctly assess the ability of candidates, especially core competencies such as language, calculation, science, problem-solving and creativity. Questions should be designed in the direction of requiring students not only to memorize and understand knowledge but also to know how to analyze, explain, compare, evaluate and propose solutions.
The fairness of an exam lies in the fact that the exam questions accurately reflect the abilities of each group of candidates. An exam question with good differentiation and uniformity between exam codes will help universities select suitable candidates, while creating motivation for all students to strive in the learning process" - Ms. Uyen expressed.
To improve the effectiveness of tutoring for 12th grade students, according to Ms. Le Minh Thu - Vice Principal of Galileo High School (Hanoi), with the graduation exam subjects, students will be arranged and classified according to their actual ability and level.
With this model, the school not only aims to build a personalized learning path for each student but also creates conditions for them to soon get acquainted with proactive learning methods, self-assess their abilities and adjust learning methods appropriately in the preparation phase for the upcoming important exam" - Ms. Thu shared.
