On the morning of March 7, the Traffic Police Department (CSGT) - Ministry of Public Security continued to issue a warning about the risk of accidents at railway crossings. The Traffic Police Department recommends that people absolutely comply with traffic lights, warning bells and barriers at intersections with railways; do not overtake barriers in any form; do not gamble on safety because of rush and subjectivity.
According to the Traffic Police Department, trains have a very long braking distance and cannot stop suddenly. Just a reckless decision in a few seconds can cost your own life and the lives of others.
Over the past time, functional forces have strengthened patrols, inspections, and strictly punished many cases of violating railway traffic safety corridors, especially acts of crossing barriers, intentionally driving when red lights and warning bells are on. However, there are still many drivers who disregard the law, regardless of danger.
For example, at about 8:26 PM on March 6, at Km 938+475 (automatic warning level crossing, operating normally) in Hoa Vinh Tay section, Ve Giang commune, Quang Ngai province, a serious railway traffic accident occurred.
Accordingly, train SE8 locomotive 918 (SG engine) pulling 14 cars, driven by train driver N.P. B (born 1989, residing in Huong Thuy commune, Hue city), train conductor N.D. Q. When traveling through the above area, it collided with a container truck with temporary license plate T11-282. xx driven by P.V. T (born 1969, residing in Kien An commune, Hai Phong city) in the West – East direction.

At the time of the incident, the level crossing barrier had been completely lowered and the warning system was operating well. However, the driver still intentionally drove the vehicle over the barrier, leading to a collision with the train; the container truck was then thrown out of the railway boundary.
The consequence of the incident was that 1 person was injured (trailer driver), property damage is estimated at about 120 million VND.
The inspection results showed that both the container truck driver and the train driver did not violate alcohol and drug concentration regulations. The initial cause was determined to be that the car driver intentionally overtook the barrier when the barrier had been completely lowered.
To prevent accidents at intersections with railways, in the coming time, the Traffic Police Department will continue to direct the Traffic Police force to strengthen patrols, inspections, and controls at level crossings across railways, especially during night hours, limited visibility areas and complex areas.
Strictly handle violations such as overtaking warning signals; overtaking when the barrier has been lowered or is being lowered; stopping and parking vehicles within railway safety boundary; intentionally crossing when a train is approaching.
Proactively coordinate with the railway industry and local authorities to review potential safety risk points, infrastructure inadequacies, and traffic organization to promptly propose remedial measures and prevent serious accidents.
Promote direct propaganda to transport businesses, container truck drivers, heavy trucks...

The Traffic Police Department emphasized that railway traffic safety has no room for recklessness. People when passing through the railway intersection area need to strictly comply with traffic lights, warning bells and barriers; do not overtake when the red light has been turned on or barriers have been closed to avoid unfortunate consequences.
