This is the exam with the largest number of candidates ever. Candidates will take the exam on paper with 120 objective multiple-choice questions for 150 minutes.
The exam results will be used by 100 universities and colleges to consider partial admission in 2025.
Huynh Phuong Thao - a 12th grade student in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City - said that although she was a bit worried, she was ready to enter the first round of the Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment exam.
"Since the beginning of the school year, I have determined that the results of the competency assessment test and high school graduation will be the two main methods used for university admission, so I have focused a lot of time on reviewing, and also participated in competency assessment test preparation classes outside the school," Phuong Thao said.
Phuong Thao plans to use the results of the competency assessment exam to apply for admission to the Economic major in schools that use this method.
Meanwhile, Nguyen Xuan Huy - also one of 128,000 students preparing to take the competency assessment exam in Ho Chi Minh City - expressed concern.
"This is the first year we have studied and taken the exam according to the new education program, the exam structure is expected to have many changes, so I am quite nervous. If the results of the competency assessment test are good, I will not have to face pressure in the high school graduation exam at the end of June, because the schools I plan to enroll in will all enroll students based on the results of the competency assessment test," Xuan Huy shared.
Xuan Huy hopes to achieve a score of 900/1,200 or higher for admission to the Information Technology industry group.
"Depending on the exam results, I will then consider which school to apply for, but I am looking forward to the University of Information Technology - Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City," Xuan Huy added.
According to the previous announcement of Ho Chi Minh City National University, the structure of this year's competency assessment test will be adjusted.
The Logic - Data Analysis and problem Solving section is restructured into the Scientific Thinking section, with 30 multiple-choice questions. The questions are built in the direction of providing information, data, data, experimental planning, experimental results, thereby requiring candidates to demonstrate their ability to understand and apply information, determine experimental results, and predict laws.
The Language Use (Vietnamese and English) and Mathematics sections have increased the number of questions to 60 and 30 questions, respectively.

The first round of the Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment exam is held in 25 provinces and cities with 118 exam scores. Ho Chi Minh City is the locality with the most exam scores.
