On the afternoon of June 1, more than 151,000 candidates completed the English exam - the 2nd exam in the entrance exam to 10th grade in the 2026-2027 school year.
Leaving the Colette Secondary School exam site (Xuan Hoa ward), Nguyen Phuc Hoang Son - a student of Colette Secondary School - commented that the English exam was relatively easy compared to what he had reviewed in the school year.
In my opinion, this year's exam is quite easy and not much different from the sample exam announced earlier. The types of questions are all familiar, so I did the test quite smoothly," Hoang Son shared.
According to the male student, the exam includes reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, rewriting sentences and answering questions based on text. The questions are reasonably distributed, without much content that surprises candidates.
Hoang Son said that he did not encounter any questions that were too difficult or tricky. With his work, the male student confidently achieved 7 points or more.
Sharing the same opinion, Nguyen Phung Hai Yen said that the exam mainly checks basic knowledge and does not put much pressure on candidates.
In my opinion, the exam is not too difficult, the types of questions are all familiar. Only a few vocabulary questions made me think more because there were a few words that were not really familiar," Hai Yen said.
The female student assessed that most of the questions were within the ability of students who had reviewed carefully and were confident that they could get about 9 points in English.
According to records at the exam site, many candidates left the exam room with a fairly relaxed mood. Compared to the worries before the exam, this year's English exam questions were commented by many students as being manageable and closely following the structure announced earlier.
At the end of the first exam day, candidates will enter the Math subject on the morning of June 2. This is an exam subject that many students assess as having higher differentiation and is also the subject that worries many students the most in this year's 10th grade entrance exam.
The 10th grade entrance exam in Ho Chi Minh City in the 2026-2027 school year takes place in 2 days, June 1 and 2, with more than 151,000 candidates taking the exam. Public high schools in the city recruit about 118,500 students into 10th grade, equivalent to about 78% of candidates taking the exam have a chance of passing.
Candidates take exams in three subjects: Literature, Mathematics and English. Those who register for specialized or integrated classes will take additional specialized or integrated subjects accordingly. In which, on the morning of June 1, candidates take the Literature exam in 120 minutes.
This year, the exam is organized at 242 exam sites, including 226 regular exam sites and 16 specialized exam sites, with a total of 6,443 exam rooms. The city's education sector mobilized more than 17,700 teachers, staff and officials to participate in exam supervision and service.
