At the exam site of Le Loi Secondary School (Xuan Hoa ward), many candidates were present early to check papers, school supplies and take advantage of reviewing vocabulary and grammar structure before the exam.
Sharing with reporters, some candidates said they were less nervous and worried after completing Literature in the morning.
Em Nguyen Minh Anh said that she is quite satisfied with the Literature exam and is placing high expectations on English.
I like learning English, so I feel more confident. I hope the exam questions stick to the curriculum I have studied and do not have too many tricky questions," Minh Anh shared.
According to the female student, the part she is most worried about is reading comprehension because there are often long paragraphs that require careful reading to avoid confusion when choosing answers.
At the Vo Truong Toan Secondary School exam site, Ngoc Tran said she was quite confident before the English subject because this is her strongest subject among the three exam subjects.
I have prepared quite carefully for the English subject, so my psychology is quite comfortable. What I want most is to do the test carefully to avoid unnecessary mistakes and achieve the highest results," Tran shared.
According to the female student, the pronunciation and stress are the types of questions she finds most difficult in the English exam because there are many rules and exceptions.
I think the emphasis and pronunciation are the most difficult because its rules are quite complex, sometimes very easy to confuse," Tran said.
However, with careful preparation during the review period, the female student still maintained a confident mentality before the afternoon exam. Ngoc Tran said that her wish is Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School.
Previously, in the morning, candidates completed the Literature exam in 120 minutes.
The 10th grade entrance exam in Ho Chi Minh City in the 2026-2027 school year will take place in 2 days, June 1 and 2, with more than 151,000 candidates taking the exam. Public high schools in the city recruit about 118,500 students into 10th grade, equivalent to about 78% of candidates taking the exam have a chance of passing.
Candidates take exams in three subjects: Literature, Mathematics and English. Those who register for specialized or integrated classes will take additional specialized or integrated subjects accordingly. In which, on the morning of June 1, candidates take the Literature exam in 120 minutes.
This year, the exam is organized at 242 exam sites, including 226 regular exam sites and 16 specialized exam sites, with a total of 6,443 exam rooms. The city's education sector mobilized more than 17,700 teachers, staff and officials to participate in exam supervision and service.
