At noon on June 1st, more than 151,000 candidates in Ho Chi Minh City completed the Literature exam - the first exam of the 10th grade entrance exam in Ho Chi Minh City.
Leaving the exam site of Vo Truong Toan Secondary School (Saigon ward), many candidates commented that the exam questions were open-ended, closely related to real life and created conditions for students to express personal thoughts.

Nguyen Ngoc Tran, a student of Pham Ngu Lao Secondary and High School, said she was quite satisfied with her work. According to the female student, this year's exam questions did not challenge knowledge but focused on thinking ability and how to perceive social issues.
For me, literature is like my way of looking at life. The topic of today's exam is also something I often think about, so when doing the test, I mainly wrote from my own experiences and journey of maturity," Tran shared.
The female student assessed the exam questions as moderate, not too difficult but also not easy to get high scores.
The exam focuses on students' thoughts and perspectives on life and society. I think the exam is not difficult but not exactly easy," she said.
Sharing the same opinion, Ngo Le Minh, a student of Tran Van On Secondary School, said that the exam questions were relatively easy, especially in the essay section when the requirements were clearly stated, helping candidates easily deploy ideas.
The solution part has quite clear ideas to follow. The reading comprehension part is generally easy, only one question makes me think more," Minh said.
Meanwhile, Nguyen Huu Phong, a student at Nguyen Du Secondary School, assessed that the exam questions were close to life when they addressed the emotions of young people today.
I find the exam very good because it talks about the emotions of young people. This is a familiar issue, so it is easy for me to relate to reality to do the exam," Phong shared.
The male student said that he used evidence from life and social networks to analyze the reality that a part of young people today spend more time on phones, rarely communicating directly with people around them. At the same time, he also proposed solutions to help young people live more positively and emotionally.
The point that impressed Phong the most was the reading comprehension part with details about robots capable of understanding human emotions. "I find the image of robots with hearts and understanding human emotions very good, making me think a lot," the male student said.
Self-assessing his work, Phong predicts to get about 7-8 points in Literature.
Similarly, Le Quang Nghi, a student of Tran Van On Secondary School, commented that the exam was not too difficult and many students could complete it well.
According to Nghi, the content mentioning the reality that a part of young people lack emotional connection in modern life is a close issue to students.
This is quite familiar content. I see many young people nowadays spend a lot of time on phones and social networks, rarely chatting with people, so I have many ideas to write," the male student said.
Nghi assessed that the exam questions created opportunities for students to express their personal opinions instead of memorizing knowledge. I predict I can get about 7 points in Literature.
After finishing Literature, in the afternoon, candidates will continue to take the English exam for 90 minutes.
