On the afternoon of July 21, leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee went to Tan Son Nhat airport to welcome Le Phan Duc Man, a 12th grade student at Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted, who just won the silver medal at the 66th International Mathematical University in Australia.
Here, Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy - Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee - presented a certificate of merit and a bonus of 50 million VND to Duc Man.
Duc Man is the only representative of Ho Chi Minh City and the Southern region in the Vietnam national team participating in the 2025 International Mathematical Competition. This year's exam has more than 639 candidates from 113 countries and territories. The Vietnamese delegation won 6 medals: 2 gold, 3 silver, 1 bronze; ranked 9th overall.
The two students who won the Gold Medal were Vo Trong Khai (class 12, Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, Nghe An) and Tran Minh Hoang (class 12, Ha Tinh High School for the Gifted). Also winning the silver medal with Duc Man were Nguyen Dang Dung (class 12, High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences, Hanoi National University) and Nguyen Dinh Tung (class 11, High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences).
The only female student in the group, Truong Thanh Xuan (grade 11, Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted) won the Bronze medal with 22 points.
