On the evening of July 5, the Vietnam team won 4-0 against Guam to complete the 2026 Asian Cup qualifiers.
Representatives of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) - Vice President Tran Anh Tu and General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu sent their congratulations and praised the impressive achievements of the Vietnam women's team when they won the right to enter the finals of the 2026 Asian Women's Football Championship.
Accordingly, coach Mai Duc Chung and his team won all 3 matches and did not concede any goals. Those were a 7-0 victory over Maldives, a 6-0 victory over the UAE and a 4-0 victory over Guam.
In order to encourage the spirit of the whole team, VFF has decided to award the Vietnam women's team 600 million VND, and at the same time hopes that Huynh Nhu and her teammates will continue to maintain their form, aiming for important tasks in the year and the upcoming finals.
After the tournament, coach Mai Duc Chung shared: "Football is always full of surprises, but in our hearts, we always keep the hope of attending the World Cup. I hope the players continue to strive, improve every day and create a breakthrough. In this qualifying round, the team has not had optimal preparation due to the rush hour.
If they have more time, the Vietnam women's team will practice their finishing better. Some HCMC players gathered late because they were competing in the AFC Champions League for women, while the U20 players could not participate due to preparation for the U20 Asian Women's qualifiers. Hopefully in the next training session, we will have more fully equipped and better prepared."
