On August 23, the Department of Education and Training of Quang Binh province said that before the new school year, the province still lacks nearly 400 teachers at public preschool and general education establishments.
Specifically, in the 2024-2024 school year, Quang Binh has more than 246,000 students, an increase of 2,900 students compared to the previous school year.
There are more than 13,000 teachers on the payroll this year in the province, with a shortage of more than 1,300 teachers on the payroll.
To solve the immediate situation, the locality has added 914 contract teaching targets according to Decree 111 of 2022 of the Government. But up to now there is still a shortage of nearly 400 teachers.
The most difficult subjects in recruiting teachers are English, Information Technology, and Technology at the elementary level. High school level lacks Music and Fine Arts.
Director of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Binh province Dang Ngoc Tuan said that English is one of the subjects that is lacking a lot of teachers. The main reason is that teachers do not want to teach in mountainous or remote areas. At the same time, many teachers switched to teaching at English Language Centers.
In order to overcome the above situation, the education and training sector is currently transferring teachers from one school to another in the same area.
The Department of Education and Training is continuing to mobilize high school teachers to teach middle school and elementary school to solve the teacher shortage. The Education Department of Quang Binh province also requested districts, towns and cities to proactively find teachers for students in the area.
