Mr. Nguyen Hung Linh, member of the Communist Party of Urban Construction Company, part of Kien Giang Construction Investment Consulting Group Joint Stock Company, said that before joining the company's transportation service team, he worked as a professional. Freelance bricklayers and porters, so their income is unstable. The house has been a dream of him and his wife for many years.
Mr. Linh and his wife have a 6-year-old child and have lived in Vinh Lac ward, Rach Gia city for nearly 7 years to work. His wife's health is poor, so in addition to taking care of the children, she works as a housekeeper at a restaurant, but her income is not much. Mr. Linh has worked at the company for 4 years and earns about 5.5 million VND/month. Even though he had saved for many years, he still did not have enough to build a level 4 house.
“For many years, my family has lived in rented accommodation for more than 1 million VND/month while raising school-aged children. My wife's parents gave me a small foundation in an alley, but they never had enough money to build it. Thanks to the Trade Union's support of 50 million VND and my husband and I borrowed more, we were able to build a simple level 4 house with a total cost of 120 million VND. My husband and I are very happy because from now on we no longer have to pay monthly rent and can safely go to work to take care of our children's proper education," Mr. Linh said.
In a similar situation, union member Nguyen Tri Duc said that over the past 10 years, he and his wife had to rent a motel and also stayed at a relative's house for a while to go to work in Rach Gia City. After more than 15 years of working and saving with the help of both families, he and his wife were able to buy a small piece of land in an alley but had no money to store it.
Mr. Duc confided: "Thanks to the Trade Union Shelter Fund's support and the amount of money my husband and I had accumulated and additional loans from relatives, it helped my family have the house of their dreams. This meaningful help always reminds my husband and I to be responsible to the company, to the Trade Union, and to always work enthusiastically and do our jobs well."
Ms. Trang Thi Bich Ngoc, Vice President of the Confederation of Labor of Kien Giang province, said that this is also an activity to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Trade Union (July 28, 1929 - July 28, 2024). Ms. Ngoc reminded the reunited family that when they have a new house to settle down, they should try to work better to create a higher income and have the conditions to raise and educate their children.
On this occasion, the Provincial Labor Federation gave a new house gift to the families of two union members.
