Ho Chi Minh City University of Law informed that in 2026, the school plans to no longer use the combination C00 (Literature, History, Geography) and A00 (Math, Physics, Chemistry) in admission based on high school graduation exam scores.
Instead, the school plans to use a number of new combinations with 2 compulsory common subjects: Literature, foreign languages will be used to enroll for the group of law majors, English language (foreign languages are one of the subjects English, French, Chinese, Japanese) and Mathematics, English for the remaining majors.
In the 3rd subject, candidates are allowed to choose one of the remaining subjects in the 2018 general education program.
The school said it will calculate a replacement combination of History and Geography to avoid affecting the rights of candidates.
In 2026, Ho Chi Minh City University of Law plans to enroll students in 5 methods, including:
Method 1: Direct admission, direct admission and priority admission according to the Regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training and the school.
Method 2: Admission consideration combines high school academic results with international foreign language certificates.
Method 3: Admission consideration for candidates studying at 149 high schools on the list of high schools eligible for priority admission consideration in 2025 by Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City.
Method 4: Consider based on the results of the V-SAT exam organized by other units for admission consideration.
Method 5: Admission based on the results of the 2026 high school graduation exam.
Similarly, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance are also expected to no longer use A00 and C00 combinations for most training majors.
Instead, schools build new combinations, in which each combination includes Math or Literature, combined with subjects such as English, Physics, Biology, Informatics, History or Geography depending on the major group.

The innovation of many universities in admission combinations stems from the enrollment regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training. According to regulations, the Ministry of Education and Training requires admission combinations to include at least 3 subjects, compulsory for Math or Literature, and the common subjects of the combinations must have a weight of at least 50%.
