HCMC announces 2025 school year time plan

HCMC - Students across the city will open the 2025-2026 school year on September 5.

On August 14, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee issued a decision on the 2025-2026 school year schedule for preschool education, general education and continuing education in the city.

Accordingly, students in grades 1, 9 and 12 will graduate in the 2025-2026 school year on August 20, and the remaining grades will graduate on August 25. The city-wide opening ceremony will take place on September 5.

semester 1 starts from September 5, semester 2 starts from January 19, 2026 and ends before May 31, 2026.

In the 2025-2026 school year, Ho Chi Minh City will have a total of more than 2.5 million students (an increase of more than 39,600 students compared to the previous school year).

Of which, preschool has 478,458 students; primary school has 939,002 students; secondary school has 759,278 students; high school has 352,051 students.
