On September 10, at the conference to give comments on the general education plan for the 2025-2026 school year, Mr. Ho Tan Minh - Chief of Office of the Department of Education and Training (DET) of Ho Chi Minh City said that the Department's Office is seeking opinions from the Department's director to issue a document regulating the school start and school dismissal hours for students at all levels of the 2025-2026 school year.
"We expect the morning to not start before 7am and no classes to start after 8am. That is, from 7am to 8am is the time for schools to arrange content and stabilize order. The afternoon does not end before 10:30, and the afternoon does not end before 16:30", said Mr. Minh.
According to Mr. Minh, this time frame is to help the school build reasonable learning and educational activities, avoiding unnecessary pressure on parents.
"In fact, if school ends at 2-3pm, many parents have to leave work halfway to go to school to pick up their children, which is very inconvenient. Even officers in the Department encountered this situation, asking to go out at 3pm to pick up their children. Therefore, arranging reasonable school hours is very important," he shared.
Mr. Minh also emphasized the requirement for teachers and schools to strictly follow the time, avoid overlapping or unreasonable prolongation, and make feasible plans to ensure teaching quality and facilitate students and parents.
