Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Van Quang - Principal of Nam Can Tho University - said that in recent years, the White Coat Award Ceremony has been an activity with the meaning of "passing on the fire", adding motivation and love for the profession to medical students in the first days of preparing to practice on patients in the hospital environment.
This year, this program is organized for new students of General Medicine course 12, International Medical University course 1. This is an important milestone, marking the beginning of new students on the path of practicing health, treating diseases, and saving people.
The white blouse symbolizes the nobility, integrity and heart of a medical practitioner. Wearing the white blouse, each student has taken on the responsibility and honor of a physician, each word and action of the individual must be performed accurately and carefully within the standards of the profession.
“Teachers put all their trust and hope in you - the future “angels in white”. Remember to always strive to become a doctor who specializes in medical theory, is good at medical skills and has good medical ethics, and is ready to dedicate himself to saving people and helping the world”, Dr. Nguyen Van Quang advised.
The ceremony is also an opportunity for students to share the common goals and values of the medical industry, creating solidarity and a sense of responsibility towards the whole society. Thereby, demonstrating the investment and orientation of Nam Can Tho University in training generations of quality, dedicated and visionary doctors, meeting the health care needs of the community.
Previously, on November 19, Nam Can Tho University held the opening ceremony of the first class of the International Medical University in 2024 with 150 students from India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Middle Eastern countries and other countries studying at the school. This is a training program implemented according to the agreement the school signed with the VMED Education Organization of India.
Nam Can Tho University was established in 2013. After nearly 12 years of construction and development, the school has developed 42 regular undergraduate majors; 6 master's majors; 1 doctoral major. In 2024, the school enrolled more than 5,200 students, bringing the total number of students through training courses at the school to more than 23,000 students.
