Hanoi University of Science and Technology said that in 2026, the school will maintain stable admission principles and continue to implement 2 admission methods.
The direct admission and priority direct admission methods according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) account for about 1% - 5% of the total target.
The combined admission method is the main method, accounting for 95% - 99% of the total target and is applied synchronously to 8 admission subjects.
This method evaluates candidates on a 100-point scale, based on three components including: academic score, bonus points and priority points.
Admission score = Academic score + Bonus points + Priority points.
In which:
Academic score = Aptitude score x 70% + High school graduation score converted x 20% + High school academic score converted x 10%.
In which, the aptitude score is the aptitude assessment (AP) test score with the Math component x 2, scale of 1,500, converted to a scale of 100.
In case candidates do not take the ĐGNL exam; candidates who have international admissions (such as SAT, ACT, IB, A-Level...); foreign high school graduates; candidates registering for international transition programs or international Bachelor of Engineering programs with UTS University - Australia will have their scores converted from these components to competency scores, ensuring the rights of all candidates.
Bonus points, including bonus points, bonus consideration points, encouragement points for candidates with special achievements (maximum 10 points on a scale of 100).
Priority points, including priority points according to the enrollment regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training (maximum 9.17 points on a scale of 100).
For candidates applying to the International Technical Bachelor (TNE) Linked Program: The academic score component will have a separate scoring method for each admission subject; no admission points and priority points are applied.

According to Hanoi University of Science and Technology, the general admission method in 2026 does not change in principle but has some adjustments in accordance with the general regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training and the roadmap for improving enrollment.
The score of Mathematics in all components used to calculate academic scores is doubled. In 2025, the score of Mathematics is doubled for the first time in the component of GNL exam scores. In 2026, the doubling is expanded to the remaining two components, which are high school graduation exam scores and high school academic scores.
In case candidates change the subject combination for admission in grades 10, 11, 12 when calculating admission scores, the school will use the academic results of another subject close to the field instead, provided that this subject is within the admission combination of the registered major.
The school also adjusts the conversion scale of scores from international foreign language certificates according to the 2026 enrollment regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training. The international foreign language conversion table includes 5 certificate levels corresponding to 5 conversion score levels for English for admission combinations using English in the high school graduation exam score component.
