According to regulations, the 2025 Tet bonus for teachers will be differentiated between two groups: Teachers working under labor contracts at non-public training institutions and teachers at public training institutions.
For contract teachers at non-public training institutions:
Article 104 of the Labor Code stipulates:
"1. Bonus is the amount of money or property or in other forms that the employer rewards the employee based on the production and business results and the employee's level of work completion.
2. The bonus regulations are decided by the employer and publicly announced at the workplace after consulting with the employee representative organization at the workplace where there is an employee representative organization at the workplace.
Thus, whether to give teachers a Tet bonus or not will be decided by the schools themselves. The specific bonus level depends on the teachers' performance and the school's business results.
For teachers at public training institutions:
Public schools are not obliged to give Tet bonuses to contract teachers.
As for civil servants, according to Clause 2, Article 3 of the 2010 Law on Civil Servants, civil servants are entitled to bonuses according to the provisions of law and regulations of public service units.
In addition, in the spirit of Resolution 27-NQ/TW in 2018 on salary reform, the bonus fund for civil servants is expected to account for about 10% of the total annual salary fund, excluding allowances. When salary reform is implemented, this bonus will be integrated into the salary structure.
However, to date, the bonus fund for civil servants according to Resolution 27-NQ/TW in 2018 has not been implemented. At the same time, current laws do not have specific regulations on the "13th month salary" for teachers.
Thus, in current legal documents, there are no regulations on Lunar New Year or Solar New Year bonuses or "13th month" salary for teachers.
