According to records, on busy streets in Can Tho City such as 30/4, Mau Than, Nguyen Trai..., fashion stores are busy preparing and importing goods to supply for the upcoming Lunar New Year.
In the face of many stores facing difficulties due to lack of customers and declining revenue, the Tet atmosphere has brought positive signals when online orders increased dramatically, helping shop owners significantly improve sales.
Ms. Ngoc Linh - owner of a fashion store on 30/4 Street, Can Tho City - said: "In the past week, the number of orders has doubled compared to normal days. In particular, customers are very interested in ao dai designs and travel outfits for Tet. Compared to the same period last year, sales have increased by about 30%".
It is known that Ms. Linh has invested more than 25 million VND to import 200 fashion products, mainly ao dai and accompanying accessories to serve customers' shopping needs during Tet. To increase competitiveness, her store has launched many attractive promotional programs with preferential vouchers.
At Ms. Pham Thi My's store (3/2 Street, Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City), the number of orders increased dramatically, forcing her to hire more employees to serve customers.
"Most customers tend to shop a month before Tet because there are many options and to avoid crowds, so orders increase at this time and then gradually decrease closer to Tet," said Ms. My.
In order to meet the trend of economical and quality shopping, fashion shops prioritize affordable items with diverse colors and designs to suit customers' needs and tastes.
Ms. My said: "The shop targets students, so the selling price is quite affordable, around 300,000 VND. Thanks to the affordable price and many customers, I also make a little profit."
Despite the "explosion" of orders, the owner of this store still hesitates to stock up, only importing in moderation for fear of risk. Because after Tet, the demand for fashion shopping often decreases significantly, leading to inventory.
"Before that, the store was also struggling because of few orders, and during the crisis, the number of employees had to be reduced. Fashion is a highly seasonal industry, trends change constantly, so importing large quantities of goods is potentially risky. I just hope that this year's Tet, the business situation will be more positive," said Ms. My.
According to the Can Tho City Statistics Office, the total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in October 2024 is estimated at VND 11,279 billion, up 1.79% over the previous month and up 14.54% over the same period. In the first 10 months of 2024, retail sales of goods are estimated at over VND 79,106 billion, up 11.82% over the same period.
